Is anyone using win10 when running Foresight FR1. FSX and TGC? If you converted from win 7 was it a seamless transition? The reason I ask is that over the years I have had numerous PITA situations when changing to a newer OS on various programs/applications. I want to play simulated golf not descend into computer nerdism.

I'm not a Foresight user but have TGC with ProTee.
Read up on the 'net about making the change. There are quite a few write-ups of the process and possible pitfalls. Going from Win 7 to Win 10 will not be painless as some apps will not carry over and will have to be re-installed in the new OS.
I have been looking at this and putting it off as long as possible but will soon be taking the plunge. I'm still not sure what happens with my TGC license key - will the same one work or do I have to get another, etc. Also, since TGC is an online download how do I get the new copy to install on my new OS? More questions than answers even after I've been contemplating this for over 2 months.
Only thing I've settled on is doing a clean install of Win 10.

From my research on this site, all you would need to do is contact ProTee and provide your old machine ID and license key stating that you would like to discontinue that license because you are getting a new computer. I know you said you're only upgrading OS, but I don't think anyone knows where the machine ID is generated from (motherboard, CPU and/or OS). I'm planning to upgrade my CPU (from i5 to i7) in the future, so I was curious about downloading the software again and if the machine ID would change. I have the links to the TGC files to download, but don't know what machine ID would appear after getting a new CPU (a new OS in your case). Only time will tell, but rest assured, they will provide you with a new license as long as the old one is no longer active. I'll look for the post they had on this site stating a license key is married to a particular machine ID, but if you inform them on the change, they will issue another one.
Hope this helps!

None yet. I was trying to forestall any. Earlier on I seem to remember some having a problem when converting to 10 from 7.Originally posted by Jbryant016 View PostI recently set up the interface with Windows 10. What problem are you having?
Over the years every time I "upgraded' to the next level of Windows there was always something that didn't work, usually, but not always, related to some driver. Microsoft, since the original DOS, has used their users as product testers.

I'm guessing that your post was directed to me. Thanks.
First off, have to say that the Win 10 install was exceptionally quick and smooth. I am generally not enthralled with Microsoft but this was pretty impressive.
I was able to work through most of the issues in getting the interface set up, which didn't turn out to be anything serious. Early on, the Interface was crashing out regularly and I had to reinstall it multiple times but now it seems to have all my settings.
However, there are 2 things that I don't like about my current set-up in Win 10.
When starting up my ProTee interface, it always comes up with the security warning: The following software is attempting to make changes you your system.... (hope you know the one that I mean). It behaves as if I am installing the program for the first time, each time I run it. That's a bit of a pain. I haven't been able to discover how to fix this. I can live with it, but seems silly that everything else runs directly from the shortcuts, except for this. It's shortcut shows up with the 'Administrator priveledges' shield.
Other item that really disappointed me is Win 10 and multiple monitors / projectors. With Win 7 my set-up was seamless. Turn on the projector and it synched with the monitor and vice versa.
I have a widescreen (16:9) touchscreen monitor but project onto a 4:3 impact screen. Running ProTee and TGC with resolution selected as 1024 x 768 the projected image filled the impact screen and the touch screen monitor 'stretched' the same image to fill the screen (but resolution was the same as the projectors - 1024 x 768). Gave the impression that you were using every available pixel on the monitor as well.
Win 10 will not do this. It basically blindly 'mirrors' one image on both devices. If I get a 1024 x 768 image on my projector / impact screen then I also get a 'letterboxed - 4:3 image on my (16:9) monitor with the resulting black bars on the sides. No way to stretch the image. It's more related to what I am used to, but also, seems a regressive step since with Win 7 it worked out of the box so to speak and Win 10 (it seems) doesn't even allow you the possibility to configure your image on monitors of different formats.
Be glad to listen to any ideas and suggestions.

Another issue that seemingly solved itself! Yesterday no luck getting my monitor / projector set-up to work the way I wanted. Today, not sure how but after a few iterations, it seems to have solved itself. Get a full 4:3 image on the projector and 16:9 on the monitor. Only crappy byproduct is that the desktop icons get rearranged helter skelter.
Gotta love Microsoft!

I reinstalled Win 10 to run the OS and TGC off a Solid State Drive for a lot faster boot up and loading... every little bit of time counts when the wife and baby are in need of attention. The reinstall of the same OS product key changed both machine IDs on PT Interface and TGC. I'll just email ProTee with the two old IDs and tell them I need new ones.
I do have a similar (if not the same) pop up when opening the interface. Also get a pop up every time I shut down the computer. With all the interfaces, sliders, programs, etc. for both TGC and Perfect Golf, I kind of expected some unwanted pop up.
Glad you figured out a solution with the resolution which plays a big role in enjoying the game. I hit into a net with a 46" HD tv / computer set up next to it. Not sure if 120 fps is that much better than 60 fps, but I feel I would enjoy the game on max settings for 1080p a lot more than a different frame rate and resolution, so I definitely agree with finding the right satisfaction setup when playing.
I strained a muscle in my rib cage, so I'm currently tweaking my computer / graphics and messing around with Perfect Golf using keyboard and mouse. Golf injuries from lack of stretching is a really depressing experience.

I'll get used to the pop-up or probably figure out how to change it as I get more familiar with Win 10.
Seems like Microsoft has a 'hate-on' for Google Chrome, since it regularly crashes or becomes unresponsive. Re-booting solves it, although I had to hit 'reset' when a restart wouldn't restart. Not a good sign for a 2 day old OS install.
One of the byproducts with having to reinstall the ProTee and TGC is that you have a chance to double check your set-up and do a bit of fine tuning.
If you have had ProTee for a while and have been updating the interface software, what happens is that your old settings get carried along and some of the new settings get over written. I saved my old settings file (settings.pgs) and printed it out to use when changing the newly installed settings file. Gives you a chance to look at whats going on inside the Protee interface and keep some of the suggested settings in the new version.
I also found that my cameras had to be re-aligned.
All this, however did not eliminate my slice.
Gotta do your stretches and start slow! Ribs are a killer.Last edited by aja; 04-14-2016, 07:58 PM.
