Hmt?

Hi everyone, I got my GC2 around 7 months ago and I love it. I am now considering getting the HMT in order to get more data from my shots in order to further improve my swing. The HMT costs almost as much as the GC2 unit. I just wanted to solicit feedback from HMT owners to see if getting that component is worth it. Thanks in advance.

You're gonna get a mixed bag of responses on this one... I own the HMT. I believe it's worth it. People will say you're approaching Trackman prices at that point, but not so much when you consider the additional costs associated with TM for both indoor/outdoor usage.

Club head info takes a lot of the guesswork out of things. Many will argue that adding an inexpensive swing radar unit will get you all the additional info you need. I'm glad I purchased mine. I did pick it up used, though. I would say the fact that you don't often see used ones for sale is an indication that people feel the same way I do.

I'd take GC2/HMT over HMT/Trackman any day. Indoor use is most important to me. F the concept of putting foil on balls. GC2 is likely more accurate indoors as well.

There's an old saying in carpentry. "Spend the money once and regret once, don't spend it and regret it every time". The HMT is amazing and expensive. If it won't wipe you out to own it, you'll never regret buying it. Just go for it.

In police/military equipment circles, it's "buy once, cry once" or "buy cheap, buy twice."

In my case, it was 3x. Both Skytrak and ES16 don't deserve to be compared to GC2. Not even close.

The HMT takes out a lot of guess work on club head path alone. Since there is a very strong market for a somewhat discounted used unit, I always thought more people ought to give it a try. But for HMT to really shine, you should also have either the FSX or the older generation FS1 software, so all the data can be projected on screen.

Gc2 + HmT is a better all round solution that Trackman. No mythical swing planes or guessing on face angle and loft.. Strike Point and real measurements are very important.

All of the HMT data is shown on the GC2 screen after hitting. You get the numbers with or without the Foresight software.

It's awesome. More useful than the GC2 IMO for practice and swing adjustments as golf is all about the face of the club and the path it takes. Without knowing your path (inside to out and downward as well as where exactly on he face you are making contact it's all just guessing). Worth every penny IMO

Exactly this! HMT is so awesome to have. I consider GC2 to be more for simulation, meaning it will give you an exact representation of a shot for simulator play. But if you want to improve and know where your faults lie, you are only going to get real usable data on how to improve with HMT.

If I had to do it again, i'd buy HMT again. And yes I did cry once after plopping down 6k. But as a PP said, it was only once.

I'm wondering if a slow motion overhead camera wouldn't give me a better idea than the HMT.

No. It won't. And 50-100 FPS is not a high speed camera, no matter what the company claims. Stay away from that thing!

I just bought a gc2/HMT package from foresight. A high handicapper, I was struggling with excessive draw or hooks. I knew conceptually that I had an in to out swingpath, but couldn't believe it was the 15 degrees the HMT was showing me on my first sessions. But I briefly had my pro with a trackman confirm. So I worked with him and the HMT to move the swing path straighter. Straighter felt extremely out to in at first, so without the HMT I would not have believed the size of the neccessary correction. And owning it means I can work on it on my own time. I think my ball striking has improved as a result. Data plus a pro providing swing adjustment advice is a good combo.

HMT is a very powerful tool. As discussed above knowing your path, angle of attack, face angle, lie angle etc will help you to understand your golf swing. Quantifying these parameters lets me see exactly how swing changes affect my HMT numbers.

Thanks to HMT I am now very neautral with my delivery with a very controlled dispersion as a result. The real cherry on the top is seeing where exactly on the face you are striking the ball. This is invaluable as you can work on honing your strike point and understand how gear effect works.

Videoing and analysis is also very important too so make sure you are doing that.

If you really want to improve your game and understand your swing then HMT is a no brainer and takes the gc2 to the next level. You will become a better golfer as a result.
