  • Bit the Bullet and Joined the Club...

After looking at used GC2s for nearly a year, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new one.

With the prices that used ones were going for, proceeding through that route made absolutely no sense, as I knew that I wanted FSX as well.

Having come from SkyTrak and then ES16, all I can say is that I'm unbelievably impressed.

The one thing that has not been mentioned in prior comparisons--either on this site or elsewhere--is just how large the GC2's ball read area is.

I'd estimate it at 12" x 18", possibly even larger. Better yet, if you place the ball outside the area, the unit still sees the ball and tells you graphically where you need to move it to get to the read area. Finally, the read area begins about 20" from the unit, so it is not very likely to get hit by a shank.

Contrast this with SkyTrak where the read area is approximately the size on an index card slightly more than a foot from the unit. Or ES16, where the read area is about the size of a poker chip and about 10" from the unit (not to mention that the logo on the ball must be hand placed toward the cameras).

As we say in the police world with regard to guns/armor/night vision and other equipment...

"Buy cheap, buy twice." In my case, it was 3X.

By not having a 5 second delay between you striking the ball, and TGC displaying the shot!

Mine is about 2-3 seconds, there is still a delay on the gc2 of a second , so unless yiu get the illusion it's going immediately into the screen then I think it's a moot point, like I said if money was not an issue I'd get a gc2, I'm not bigging up the skytrak , but I can honestly say the delay don't bother me,

Both a Honda Civic and a Mercedes will get you from point A to point B. The latter allows you to enjoy the ride a hell of a lot more.

No comparison between the two. While the delay with ST can be tolerated, the size of the ball box is where GC2 really shines. If you are hitting of a fixed tee, no need to move the unit. Also no need to move it to eliminate mat wear, no stupid laser dot, etc.
