New R50 model from Garmin

Garmin R50 Is Worth the Investment

Still trying to find out if and when it will be compatible withTGC2019. Apparently it is with E6 and GSPro.

I have had the R50 for a week now and by and large it performs very well. You get the odd strange flight but that might be the rubber tees I am using. I have found however that I am looking for a PC as after the novelty of using Home Tee Hero wears off I want GS pro and obviously you need a PC for that. I would say it is definitely worth the money 💰

I bought a Garmin r50 over a month ago and loved it, for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks the power button failed and I wasn’t able to turn it on. You get a 30 day free trial before your subscription takes effect, so I cancelled that not knowing when I might get this one replaced. After contacting the place where I purchased it, they said to return it and they would “fix it”. I told them I want a new replacement or my money back so they refunded my money. I then found one on Amazon where I could get a 2 or 3 year protection plan. Amazon was the only place I could find that would give any extended protection. I received my new unit from Amazon this past Monday and by Wednesday the power button failed on it. I returned the unit this morning.


Good luck to anyone who buys this. I’ll wait for the Garmin r50 plus whenever that comes out. Has to be better than this one.


Dissappointing thing I really did love this launch monitor mainly because of its all in one feature. No computer needed. Pretty much every golf course in the world available. I have a projector and big screen but if you don’t the 10” screen on the unit is nice enough for the one starting out with your golf simulator setup. I got unlucky twice and won’t even try a third time. Hopefully the rest of you get lucky.

I would like to add that when I received my second unit, I paid for the yearly subscription and when I cancelled it again 2 days later, Garmin refunded my money immediately. You would think they would wonder why someone would cancel, subscribe again and cancel again within a week. Maybe a common thing.
