  • Buying used

I've been offered the opportunity to get hold of the R-Motion kit. It's only been used a couple of times by the current owner (a friend of a friend). Will there be any issues with the licence of TGC software, would I be able to install it with the serial provided with the kit?

I'd like to know this as well, since I might be selling mine at some point.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Does ProTee United allow software license transfers/used sales?
The vast majority of software products on the market do not allow license transfers of any kind. However, at ProTee United we realize that there are certain circumstances where it can be a legitimate transaction. Because circumstances can vary so much, we only consider and grant license transfers on a case-by-case basis, and only for the original owner.

Can I resell software used to someone else?
Not without first obtaining a license transfer from ProTee United. Software is licensed and registered ONLY to you (single-user). You cannot automatically transfer the license to someone else, and therefore you cannot simply sell it used. If you do attempt to sell it used without first obtaining a license transfer, the buyer will not be able to use the product because it is registered and licensed to you.

How would I obtain a license transfer?
The first step is for you (the original owner) to submit your request in writing to support@protee-united.com

All license transfer requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. Each request can take 3 to 5 business days to process and you will be notified as soon as there is a decision. We encourage you to secure the right to transfer the license before offering your software for sale, in order to avoid delays for the buyer in using his new license.

How much does a license transfer cost?
Depending on the circumstances, when a license transfer is granted, there could be an additional fee per license that covers the transfer of all the rights to the new user to use the software, to receive free email and online technical support, continuing software update rights, and the issuance of a new license key and account. The transfer fee depends on the outcome of the transfer request review.

Who should pay the transfer fee - the buyer or the seller?
It's up to the two parties to decide, but since it is best to secure the transfer before the sale, it is usually the responsibility of the seller to pay the transfer fee. Delays and problems can occur if the transfer was not secured BEFORE selling the software.

If I buy license-transferred (used) software, will I have to pay full price for a future version?
No. All license-transferred software products are eligible for standard upgrade pricing deals.

Can license-transferred (used) software be resold and transferred again?
No. This can be done only once, and only by the original purchaser.

If a licensed user dies, what happens to the license rights?
The rights of the software are only for the lifetime of the licensed user. If you wish to extend the license rights to another person, such as surviving next of kin, please contact ProTee United about obtaining a license transfer - these are considered and granted on a case-by-case basis.

Ok, well it's very clear. Essential before anyone buys used that the seller has made arrangements for the transfer. Also, one resale only.

Are you talking about the full version of TGC or the trial version that comes with R motion? The one with 15 courses? I don’t think you need to worry about the trial version as you should be able to follow the steps to download.

if you are talking about the $500 full TGC, that’s a different issue.

I got the driving range app for r-motion to work on my phone. After I signed into the app I got an email from them with links to download. I can't get it to work. I click on the options and nothing opens. All I can open is the licence bit that then asks for a licence key

You should have a dongle to plug into your USB port. You should have at least 3 pieces (R-Motion sensor, sensor clip, and the dongle to run the software). You only need to launch the R-Motion app, you could remove the shortcut for TGC if you want since R-Motion triggers the launching of TGC.

I've contacted the r-motion support and they tell me I need to open r-motion application and plug in dongle. Nothing happens when I plug in the dongle. When I plug it in the light goes green but nothing happens. Light goes out after about a minute.

In the image with the "First time setup", you should have a green check mark or something when you plug the dongle in. Once you do, you can click the "get software..." button below

It just has a big red cross that does not change when I plug in the dongle. I plug in the dongle and there will be a green light on the dongle that goes out after about a minute.

I got it to work. Was my fault. I was plugging in the sensor to the usb wire and plugging that into my laptop. There was a small little usb dongle in the box that I missed. That is what I was meant to plug in.

Does your pc make the device connected/disconnected sound when you plug in/remove the USB?

If not, I'd leave the dongle disconnected and try reinstalling. I'm guessing the dongle driver is part of the install package?

Remove the dongle, close the rmotion menu/interface open security settings turn off real time monitoring then insert dongle open meno if still red cross remove dongle a couple of times. This normally works for me
