  • Should I move on?

I own a SkyTrak but bought an R-motion to add face angle and path to my practice.

This was back when integration with SkyTrak range seemed imminent and TGC2019 hadn’t been released. In hindsight I should have waited.

With TGC I struggle to know if my R-motion is actually feeding in club data or the calculated data is still just showing up. I have the appropriate version and a full license. Everything appears to be setup in the launcher and data shows up in TGC. However if I grab a different club without the sensor and hit a ball I still get data so I’m lacking confidence that I’m not just always getting calculated info.

The R-motion app never refreshed the data for me on my phone after each shot. I need to push the little graph icon then it refreshes the recent shot. Not a show stopper but annoying. However the app is crashing on me quite a bit the last few times.

Last night after about 5 shots the sensor turned off and wouldn’t come back on. It was charged right beforehand so I’m guessing it’s died (I’ll try charging again today).

I’ve probably used the device between 5-10 times only as I kept waiting for integration with SkyTrak app then at least with TGC2019.

I’m not sure if it’s under warranty or if it’s even worth dealing with if I can get it to work again. Are others using this with SkyTrak and succeeding or did I just time it horribly wrong as both companies went dark at the same time and I should just consider the $200 a throw away at this point?

What do you mean you have the appropriate version? I'm fairly certain there is only one version and it was a beta that incorporated both R Motion and Skytrak in TGC. I used it and it worked well. Is this the version you have?

Correct 1.46b if I recall offhand. Everything turns green to reflect my SkyTrak and my R-motion in the interface so I assumed it was connected.

I hit balls and it shows club data but if I have the sensor attached to my 7 iron and lean it against the wall and hit some 6 irons with no sensor I keep getting club data (which is obviously calculated). This makes me wonder if anything is being fed from R-motion even on the 7 iron. I don’t see a Trackman like italics marking for calculated versus measured so my trust is low.

Accuracy will obviously be what it is for $200 but the club/path info rarely matched my ball flight from basic ball flight laws. Granted there is a face contact location variable I wasn’t monitoring closely.
