TGC Is Slow to Load???

Starting the TGC interface this week things have been really slow to load. I go to play, pick my players, when I click on a course weather in my favorites list or any of the other courses it takes sometimes up to 5 minutes for the course to load before I can play. It is really getting frustrating because I have never had any issues prior.

Any ideas?

Sounds like an Internet issue. Try offline mode and see if everything loads quickly. If it does then look at your connection and firewall

As mthunt says It does indeed sound like a internet problem. When I have a slow internet connection I turn the router off and when I turn it back on it's back to normal speed.

Guess all of us are having internet issues today.

TGC has been brutal. Slow to load.

Started the Masters tournament. Took forever to load. Started play and after the 4th or 5th hole it froze. Restarted, and it put me back on the first hole.

Guess that was a bit of a reprieve since I had stunk the joint out, but those holes disappeared.

Continued play from the 1st hole, where it put me after the restart. Did much better, score wise but it started acting a bit strange with very delayed shots - like over 10 seconds... Restarted and played to the 6th hole where it would not register my chip on to the green. At least it would not register it in TGC, since the Golf Sim Tour site shows that I hit four shots with my wedge, all the same distance from the hole, which in fact I did, since none of them were registering in the game.

Shudder to think what is going to show up on my card when I restart the game.

This sounds a lot like my problem I was having. TGC was basically locking up, it was running so slowly. The advice of SkyTrak_Seth was to look into getting a VPN. That seemed like a good idea, but I actually fixed it by pretty much restarting everything with an off switch - routers, computers, access points, home plugs, fridges, the wife and kids, everything. Well worth it - after that, I've not seen the problem again.

FWIW: I found a machine in the house running torrent software which was eating all the bandwidth. I'm pretty sure that was the culprit.

I advised you to use a VPN??? I don't remember that Not sure why I would troubleshoot TGC

Think you just pointed me to a protee post to be fair. It was during the kerfuffle with connection issues I think?...now I think on it, could have easily been protee pointing me to their own post... Bah, you professionals are all the same to me

I have heard about setting up a VPN before. What is the vote on this? I have my IT guy coming over Tuesday evening and if that is the way to go then I wil have him set one up.

I work in IT security, a VPN isn't going to make anything faster. A VPN will only cause unneeded overhead unless you are trying to remain covert in some way.

VPNs are useful for a couple things such as: security (anonymity), and bypassing geographic blocks, etc

My vote goes for server issues on ProTee's end. My issues often happen on weekends when they seem to do their maintenance, or is it just that the load on the machine is just heavier.

The VPN works if your supplier is throttling your connection thinking it's P2P traffic or whatever. VPN will just make all the network traffic look the same...
