  • System Req and subscription question

Just found this page and it's been a great resource. I'm looking to order a Skytrak and just had a few questions before I get the ball rolling.

Ideally id like to get TGC as well since the consensus seems to be that it is pretty rad

If my Game Improvement Plan expires am I no longer able to use TGC until it is renewed?

Secondly. This is my current computer.
    I7.
    Windows 10.
    8gb ram.
    Nvidia GeForce GT 640.

I have concerns that the graphics card will be able to handle TGC. Anyone with experience give me any input. The card is 2gb but lower end compared to what TGC recommends.

Id hate to purchase it only to not be able to use it.

    Thanks for any input!

The card will be "useable" but on low quality. The rest of the system is fine but I'd definitely get a new card like the GTX 1060 6GB or the GTX 970. I can personally attest to both cards that they run the game on HIGH with high 60+ FPS.

ugh. It's an all in one so upgrading isn't really an option. How low quality are we talking here?

I really would not sacrifice on the graphics card - you will be sorry you spent the rest of the money. Perhaps get the skytrak and e6 for a few months and then get TGC - I have both and I feel they really compliment each other. I must confess, I could be a little biased because e6 has a great version of my home course. The version in TGC is not that great of one.

FWIW, I've played TGC on my old computer that had the GTX 660, so a very tiny bit better than your 640. It ran TGC just fine at fairly low details (300-ish settings in the tree details and distance, out of a max 2000), that's to say that it's not a pixelated mess and is very playable. I've since built a new computer with a GTX 1070 card. While the new build is head and shoulders above the old one, I would say that the playability of the old computer would've been just fine.
So unless you have the budget for a new computer, I think your current one will run TGC well enough.

Thank you. Im not looking for it to be the best video settings. I plan to update the computer down the road. Just with the initial cost I would prefer to put off a computer purchase as well. This makes me feel better about the purchase.

If you've already bought the computer then the discussion is moot. But the gtx 660 is a completely different card than a gt 640. I'd guess it is a gadzillion times better (give or take lol) not just "a very tiny bit better" as suggested by frackh. Personally I'd expect the results to be pretty grim but it should get you started.
