I'm doing a little bragging here, but also just want to see what peoples thoughts are too. I have a SkyTrak and TGC, and I've played 85 rounds on it. I have 1 hole-in-one in real life, and of course it was an awesome feeling. On Monday, round 82 of my 85, I got a hole-in-one. It wasn't quite like getting a hole-in-one in real life, but I still felt pretty cool about it and told some of my friends and co-workers about it. Then on Wednesday at lunch from work I got another one on round 84. Of course my wife says, it's a videogame, which I guess it is, but does anyone think that a hole-in-one is more likely on a sim vs. in real life?

Congrats. That's awesome. I can't speak to which one is more likely because I haven't had one IRL or sim
. I had a friend who had been playing for 20 + years and was about an 8 handicap and never had a hole in one. Then one day knocked one in and two weeks later got another. He hasn't had one since and that was about 15 years ago. I think there's a lot of luck involved whether it be sim or IRL but for the most part you have to hit a really good shot. I say for the most part because I was also with someone who hit a shot about halfway to the hole and it rolled the rest of the way up onto the green and in to the hole. I was like really dude

Awesome story cberglof! Hole in ones are rare in any case. I've made one in real life and made one on my sim within the first couple of months of owning it. Been real dry ever since. There's just a lot of luck involved and you only increase your chances by hitting the ball at the hole a lot. Good luck and keep knocking them in potna!

noice. Never had one IRL or sim. I've played a s-ton of rounds on TGC and still waiting, so I'm with BadEddieKit that it's still ridiculously rare, but a little bit more doable with indoor conditions. Jb50 my brother skulled one in on a 170 yard par 3 during an outting a couple summers ago and won us a trip to Jasper... I never let him forget how bad of a shot it was, but it was a sweet free trip! haha

It's funny, I've heard a lot of "bad shot hole in one stories", and it is ALWAYS some luck involved, because you can hit a ton of beautiful shots, but to get one to actually drop, it's like all the stars are aligned for that one moment. I know 20 handicappers that have hole-in-ones and scratch golfers that haven't. I've taken a chunk out of the hole and hit pins, and shook my head a couple of times thinking "How did that not go in?", and then it just sort of happened once....and then twice this week on the sim. The second time I didn't even really get excited, it was more like a "nobody is gonna believe this" thought that went thru my mind!

About 10 years ago, I was at an golf outing, and witnessed a freak hole in one.
160 yard Par 3 hole. 30 handicapped 65 yr old lady misshit a drive shot, which rolled about 50 yards and went in.
She won 100 thousand dollar Mercedes with a topped driver shot hole in one.
Anything is possible.

Back in 2003, I made 2 aces IRL. They were 6 days apart. Both were well struck shots that spun back in the hole (1st: 9i from 157 yards, 2nd: 8i from 137 yds).
Second one should have never happened. I walked into the parking lot at my club after work and was there only to practice (club champ was coming up). I saw a good friend there and he twisted my arm into going out and playing 9. I pushed back but he finally convinced me. We walked right to the 10th hole which is a par 3 and was playing 137 that day.
Not wanting to swing hard without warming up, I took out an 8i, stepped up the ball, took one lazy practice swing, stepped up and pulled the trigger. Ball hit about 2 feet behind the hole and a foot right. Took one small hop and spun back into the cup.
I couldn't believe it. We went wild.
I haven't had one since. Been close a few times, but no soup.

These are fun stories to read. See what you started cberglof. I have one more to add. I wasn't there to witness but it still is talked about to this day at my workplace. Happened about 25 years ago. One of our co-workers, who was a single digit handicapper, hit a terrible tee shot that went way right and was assumed to be OB. Teed it up again and knocked it in the hole for a three. Unfortunately for him he couldn't use it because his ball was found in a bush up by the green. He ended up taking a 6 on the hole as the story goes.

Right, understand you weren’t there. That’s a case where knowing the rules could have helped him. I looked it up and rehit is indeed an option for unplayable. As long as he declared his second off the tee a provisional, he could have taken a 3. Crazy story.

I read this article http://www.barryrhodes.com/2009/09/p...all-found.html. Unless I’m misunderstanding it, he would not have been able to use his shot if he declared it a provisional once he found his first. Only way he could have used it was if he or his group never found his ball. Once ball was found, he then would of had to follow the unplayable lie rules which I believe also include going back to original spot.

I've never had a hole in one IRL or Sim but have two decent stories to share.
IRL.... First one I witnessed was the first time my wife was playing a round of 18. She had played par 3 courses a few times. Anyway, 2nd par 3 of the day she hit the flag stick on the fly and it went in. She was probably a 30 handicap and still is as this was 5 years ago.
2nd/3rd time I witnessed a hole in one was in a 3 day club tournament at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. It was 2 man team match play and first shot of the day the team we were playing against got a hole in one. He asked if we want to just move on to next hole. WE LOST that match. The next day we are playing another team and one of them gets a hole in one against us after we both hit the green which is rare. We lost that match too. Best time ever for those guys to get hole in ones because for the tournament it was open bar so they didn't even have to buy drinks.
Those are the only 3 I have ever witnessed.

I have never had a hole in one IRL. I have come within inches a few times. I have had 2 hole in ones with TGC after about 450 rounds. My stats show differently as I played a putting course to completion. This putting course gave hole in ones for every one putt. I wish I could zero out that particular stat.
