  • Does aiming effect shot shape

This may sound stupid but does moving the aiming reticule have any effect on the shape of the shot in TGC? I always warm up using the Skytrak app and as there is no way to change the direction on the Skytrak range and I draw the ball, 99% of my shots end up left of centre. When I move onto TGC to play a round I naturally move the aiming reticule to the right to allow for my draw, lately it seems the further right I move the reticule the further left it goes. And I don't mean it starts off right and ends up left it just shoots straight left. So my first instinct is misreads and I just live with it however after 5 holes of straight left shots today I decided not to move the reticule and from that point on all my shots show as a slight fade but at least found the fairway. So am I just getting lots of misreads or is aiming some how messing me up?

I don't think so. I play a draw and always move the stick to the right. The farther right you move it, you may unconsciously be drawing it more.

Yes maybe it is something I am doing without realising. Those shots were not drawing really it was going directly straight left and a decent distance, I would normally class it as a misread however yesterday every shot was like that when I aimed and as soon as I gave up aiming my shot's turned into a fade. Wondering what has changed in my setup recently to make my shots so erratic, probably me is the simple answer.

Its probably mental. You're aiming right, so if you hit a fade or block instead of draw you might be in a really bad spot, so you over-do your draw and end up hitting farther left than intended. TGC aiming doesn't do anything to the ball flight for me.

Thanks for the clarification both. Sometimes some shot's just have you scratching your head. Wish I was a good enough player to say for sure, I swear that's not the shot I just hit

Whenever I aim to the right my shot stays straight.

Yep think that's a good plan will play some real golf and see how that compares. If I power draw it off the first tee all is forgiven TGC

Something weird does seem to happen when I am aiming, played a tournament round yesterday in the Memorial and not doing too bad until hole 16. Par 3 200 odd yards, being sensible I am not risking the pin so I aim at the right rough with the reticule, that way even with a bit of draw or a pull I will either find rough or the small patch of fairway. I hit around the middle of my screen and the ball flies in the direction of the hole not where I have the aiming reticule. Regardless of spin I would at least expect it to start close to the line where I am aiming. Anyway reload and this time I aim even further right, again I am hitting around the middle of my screen and ball goes even further left.
Wipe away my tears and reload for attempt 3 this time I am aiming so far right it's almost on a different course. Ball middlish of screen and shoots way left, it's almost like the ball seems to start on the line of the flag regardless of where the aiming reticule is. Am I missing something (apart from greens)? Or is it just me? Attached are the shot's, Spin axis and side spin seems to increase the further I aimed right. These shots all felt like my normal strike which is slight draw and the dent the ball left in screen suggests they were not a million miles away from the middle.
