TGC vs e6

Hey y’all...working on completing my SkyTrak/screen/enclosure setup this weekend and hoping to decide on a new projector and sim software as well.
Ive run through a few practice holes w/e6 on my laptop and projector(to a blank wall), but haven’t seen TGC since there’s no demo.
I’ve noticed the popularity of TGC over the e6TruGolf, and was hoping to get some insight from those who have played both. I’ve read several posts regarding an update to TGC that may allow multiple teeboxes, but haven’t seen any confirmation.
My buddies and I--about 16 or so- are all interested in running some type of winter league(about 12 weeks), and it seems the e6 may have more options as far as functionality for storing player profiles, scores and handicaps...along with multiple tee boxes. But the courses, graphics and long term costs are an issue.
That being said, TGC has more and possibly better courses available-just have to dig through user creations-and at a lower long term cost.
Up front cost at only $300 favors e6, but the sale on TGC is attractive as well, since I would own it.
I do have concerns about updates/upgrades based on what’s coming as far as the e6Connect/TGC cloud based platforms...are they both just done with supporting/updating their current products?
Any insight/feedback is appreciated!

The video game version has multiple tee boxes so it seems the sim version will as well.

I do a lot of local multiplayer so I went with E6 1.6 and use Skytrak. I find the software to be excellent, highly customizable, the one exception is putting, I use 10ft gimmes but get some misreads from 10-20ft, longer putts no problem. The 15 or so courses are all beautifully rendered and I do not get bored at all. In round practice is an under appreciated feature.

I pay the annual $299 subscription. I wanted to wait for TGC 2019 so that all the sim bugs are worked out and hardware costs decline (I would need to upgrade my laptop).

No regrets but like any good consumer will re-evaluate next year. I would like to see TruGolf work with Skytrak to fix the putting and allow for fringe putting.

I just got TGC. I picked it because of the golf simulator tour. Just finished q school and my first event. What a hoot! I’m loving it and have no regrets. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. TGC was exactly what I was looking for.

Mthunt was very helpful. He took the time to answer my questions regarding TGC. Little did he know I’m gunning for him on the tour now.
its definitely going to take some time learning how to read the greens and make putts. It’s pretty fair with 6ft gimmies I haven’t had any misreads yet and have made a fair number of 10-12 foot putts so far.

I think I like the overall look of TGC- a little more polished I guess(?) but sometimes looks a little dark/shadow-y...I like the current sale price of $795 to own it, and the plethora of courses, but if there’s no way to handle multiple tee boxes for a local multiplayer league type format, it won’t work for me at the moment...thanks for the input and I’ll definitely be looking for the 2019 release!

I have tried Jack N golf, E6, TGC all last year. I did not renew Jack N or E6. For me the combo of the customer support of TGC, the ghost feature, the tour, and the 2019 someday seals the deal for me.

I haven't actually played on anything yet, but purchased a skytrak with TGC because of the sale on the lifetime license at $795. I am redoing my garage so don't anticipate trying anything for another two weeks. Having said that, one concern I do have are the lack of multiple T-boxes. I have a 7 year old who will be golfing with me. If we only play rounds with TGC, I believe there will be more frustration for him. TGC fans have said 2019 will have multiple T-boxes. I hope they release 2019 soon. Buying the lifetime license this year was partly due to the promise of the free upgrade to 2019 soon.
As far as e6 goes, does anyone have any experience with game play with everyone using the same system? I am planning on buddies coming over to golf on my sim. Is TGC better for that or e6?

Give me multiple tee boxes and store/save info for 16 players and I’m in!

E6 is superb in my opinion for multi-player, given the multiple tee box options (Ladies, Amateur, Pro, Championship).

Thanks for the feedback. From what I have read, SkyTrak comes with a 30 day free trial of E6. I assume all the functionality will be in there for me to test it out. If it is really good, perhaps I will go ahead and do an annual subscription of it.

The demo Wade Hampton Course seems fine...shot tracer with ball follow sometimes doesn’t give a good idea of distance-looks like a short shot until it lands and you see the distance numbers...anyone got feedback about differences between the demo and real software/courses?

Yes definitely demo the software. I did the same. There is a sound bug and some putting bugs in the demo but full version download fixed.

Food for thought. There are so many courses in TGC that it won't be hard to find courses your 7 yo will enjoy.

With multiple tees the 7 year old can play forward tees. As it is today there are courses for 7 year olds. My kid is 14 but when I got TGC I think he was 9 or 10. I played the short courses with him and just hit irons and wedges.

For myself, it came down to getting the biggest bang for my buck. I was first torn between JNPG and E6.

I really wanted E6 (as I believe the makers of the Links LS computer game were involved, as the courses offered are all that I have played with Links LS) but it was really expensive. $300 annual fee for only 15 courses. $1800 one time purchase. (couldn't do the one time purchase when I was buying) Course packs average $400, $2740 for all. So that comes to $4540 to own it with all the courses.

JNPG was also unavailable for a one time purchase when I was buying, but it was also as expensive as E6. Unfortunately, it is not available for the SkyTrak anymore.

TGC is $480 annual fee, and $1000 for a one time purchase. (TODAY I SEEN WHERE SKYTRAK IS OFFERING THE ONE TIME PURCHASE OF TGC FOR $795!) It had thousands of courses so I didn't have to buy and more. Granted there are some crappy courses on there, but it does not take a ton of effort to find really great courses, like the outstanding recreation of Augusta National (this forum is a great resource for that!) I am looking forward for the next version to drop!

It was simple economics for me. I went with TGC and have not been disappointed in the least, but then again, I do not play online with anyone very much at all. Maybe I will more when the new version comes out.

There is one other option that was not around when I was buying. Creative Golf. basically $200 annual fee (but you only get 5 courses) or $500 one time fee. Course packs are $100 a piece and $1200 for all the courses. I'm just not sure about anything else about it, like graphics, gameplay, etc.

It really comes down to what you want in a simulator and how much you are willing to invest.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I’ll demo e6 after my sim is setup and will also take the suggestion of playing shorter courses on TGC and see how that goes. Maybe the best case scenario for me would be for TGC 2019 to release in the next 30 days... wishful thinking....
