  • TGC offset view

For those playing TGC with the offset view, how are you getting along? Do you ever get used to it or do you feel less 'immersed' into the sim?
New home build is a couple of months away from completion and need to weigh in whether or not to use the larger basement space for home theater or golf sim (can't do both in the same area due to limited distance spacing). Thanks!

frackh I use offset and don't feel it takes anything away. Screws me up if I don't use offset. I can't get over the urge to pull it back to the target if I don't offset. Good luck.

My screen is 15 feet wide. I can go in the middle but i move the GC2 around to distribute wear and use offset. I have no clue what you are referring to with the offset making me feel less 'immersed' into the sim". It doesn't take anything away from the experience but having offset off sucks.

Thanks for all of the input. mthunt I was a little concerned about not being able to see the entire view from center and feeling boxed in to one side. I prefer to physically pivot my hitting direction instead of just moving the screen view left/right, at least for smaller directional adjustment. Feels like this gives me better practice and translate better to real golf.
But I didn't even consider the screen wear so looks like the bigger space wins. It's about 16ft vs. the 8ft width.

It works perfectly.. you'll get more screwed up if you try leaving the ball in the middle of your screen while you're hitting from an offset position. You'll be pulling everything toward that starting line.

the camera works perfectly, don't have any worries .

I also change the hitting location to save wear and tear on the screen. In general I'm always hitting from an offset location though. I tried the TGC offset but found I prefer non-offset. Worth trying both to see which feels better. Once I step into address I align myself to the GC2 and don't pay any attention to the screen when I'm hitting. No problems for me.

Likewise, I move hitting area to limit wear. Offset works fine.

When I set my space up I initially put a small tape marks down on the carpet front and back that is my hitting line so I could get everything straight and parallel. I use the offset but actually use the front mark on the floor as my aim point, not necessarily what's on the screen. Great for guest too, because the ball seems to move funky when you align your shot in the software.
