I must say, the putting on TGC is really growing on me. I like it better than the Protee which I love. I find the putting roll more realistic and fells great with the camera view. Others liking it or just me?

I think the putting is good as well. Like Z said the ball speed at the start of the putt may be a little slow looking and should be faster off the face, but the roll out is much nicer and seems to roll true. I have mine almost matching my Protee green speed.
Reading the greens is slightly different and am finding that level putts with a lot of side hill play faster than a level putt but it should as the ball is coming down hill for the last half or more of the putt.Mountain Time

I like the putting better on TGC as well. Red Chain when the camera switches to the "cup view" you know you made it, TGC you never know until the ball approaches the hole. It is harder to make putts but I feel this is more realistic than RedChain. I am really liking the new preset putting view camera angles. Press E for side view of the putt and from there pressing V shuffles through various other camera angles
The only things I don't like is the cup is too low on the impact screen and shadows block it. On my set up, if you change to putt camera angle to 5 I think (worm view) you can move cup below shadow. Also it is difficult to see the cup on longer putts, especially if you have adjusted for break and then check other camera views. When you go back to main view the cup can't be easily found.

Putting to me is mainly intuitive. Using swing mechanics and looking at face angles etc... Over complicates putting IMO. I question if simulators will help me improve my putting beyond the the distance I can see the ball roll in my room (10 feet or more) But then again I am a GC2 owner and I am sure a Protee owners would beg to differ but they may be biased because they have )1200 invested in their putting sensor. I believe sims mainly help with GIR, muscle memory, playing pressure, couse management and long iron play which can help with handicap reduction or to maintain ur skill set especially during the winter.
I would love for TGC to give gimmies as soon as u hit the green. They could even calculate aid u 2 or 3 putt based off of distance where u landed on green and ur handicap. This could speed play for those focusing on swinging more than putting. Right now it's taking too long to complete 18 holes. Competition is different but, the playing is not equal depending on ur set up and hardware

First of all, GC2 guys need to set Putting Forgiveness in GSX to 2. This will make it a little easier and more realistic. This putts the GC2 putting on the same playing field as ProTee sensor putting for competition. The advantage of the ProTee putting sensor is the fact that you can putt from a different surface and not have to hit from the same area where you hit normal shots.
Gimmes can be set in 3 ways:
No Gimmes = must putt out.
Gimmes = gimmes at 6 ft. or less.
Green = auto gimmie when on green with 2 strokes added.
Putting on TGC or ProTee 2.0 takes some practice. TGC putting is a little harder but probably more true to real life than ProTee 2.0 putting. I'm a good lag putter in real life and a good lag putter in ProTee 2.0 and it will be the same in TGC once I get used to it. IMO, it's just a matter of learning it and hitting a straight putt. When I putt outside, it will take different skills as you visualize the distances and breaks butt you will still have to make a straight putt. So, if you concentrate on making straight putts on the simulator, it will help you in real golf. If you're not good at reading speeds and breaks in real golf, no simulator is going to help you.

it's just hard to read from the little green lines that just roll by is my point. Hard to determine for me break that way. In the fullswing simulator it gave you a putting line that basically showed the break. if you hit the line with the right speed you made the putt. I didn't know about the putting forgiveness I'll have to give that a try.

Just to add a bit on the putting with the GC2 and making sure putting forgiveness is on 2 and what that does.
The GC2 is within +/- 1 deg for push or pull on all your shots. On iron shots or Woods that 1 deg does not make much difference at all.
When you putt however, if you were off right by .8 deg in the real putt and the GC2 read 1.8 off for that putt due to the +/- 1 deg, it would be enough to miss a short, straight in putt. What the forgiveness slider does when on "2" is make it so that any putt that is 1.5 deg off line or less, read as a straight putt. If you hit a putt that was 1.6 right or left, then that putt will go that amount off line as there is nothing reduced on that hit. So when you look at the readout on the GC2 where it says push/pull and your seeing a number that is less than 1.5, then that putt will go straight now with the GSX setting. Now if you have your own putt line on your mat set up so you can judge whether or not that the putt was on line, then you need to make sure that your GC2 is parallel to that line. With a few test putts, watch and see that if your putt was straight on that line and compare to the GC2 to see if the GC2 reads more than a .8 to 1.2 range off, and if so, then I would try to slightly adjust the GC2. You will see the dead straight putts read both ways and it is not always going to show the same but should be inside that 1 deg read.
Now if you were to boost that number even more up from 2, you would see then that not only does the 1.5 deg putts get rounded to 0 but any putts then that are over 1.5, they will have a higher % reduced of the off line. When we play on line we all are to leave that at 2 so that it is fair for all.
I have a guy that likes to putt by leaving the aim stick on the pin and then he will aim his putt left or right on the mat in order to play the break he wants. By having that forgiveness number higher than 2, it would mess him up with they way he putts as it would then reduce those putts that he is hitting 3 and 5 deg off line and not be accurate.
Also with the GSX putting speed slider. I use +40 when I putt in Protee with Red Chain courses for my idea of a good putt speed. To golf in TGC I need to reduce that to +13 and then it is close to the same speed on flat putts. The up hill and down hill putts may differ and whatever the speed of the greens are set up with to begin with makes a huge difference.Mountain Time
