  • Best California Courses?

    Hi,

Besides Pebble, Spyglass, and Torrey, what are some of your favorite / most accurate recreations of California-based courses in TGC (that are less than 6800 yards)?

I saw the most popular (and assuming most accurate version) of Cypress Point is 7400+ yards!!! Unfortunately, I don't have distance to enjoy that kind of length.

    Thanks.

Try the Olympic Club by Russ West. It's just a touch over 6,500 yards. I seem to remember a lot of uphill approaches, and I'm not a long hitter, so it played longer for me. Also try Riviera Country Club by Bryan Boomer. That one is 6,100 yards, but you better be very accurate off the tee. I remember the fairways being extremely narrow on that one. But, two more good California options there for you. Have fun and enjoy!

Good deal, thanks! I just played Olympic yesterday, it was pretty tough. Will try Riviera soon! Cheers.

Olympic is a pretty tough test in the simulator version. Even though it's a lot shorter, I think you'll find Riviera to be a tough one, too. PGA West suggested below is a bit more forgiving. Have fun!

I know you said besides Pebble, Spyglass, and Torrey BUT I love Spyglass Hill. Favorite course to play

That's one of my favorites in TGC. The last few holes get narrow and can be a pretty brutal finish. Great TGC design work!

I forgot about that one! That's by the guy who did Congressional, Rod Simpson. If I'm reading my notes correctly, the shortest version is the one marked as Thursday. It's just under 6,500 yards. Another great California option!
