Basically the title of this post - is there a way to launch the PC game, and choose to hit the balls with the mouse/keyboard? I mean, I paid close to a grand for this thing (and I love, don't get me wrong) but it would be nice if they threw in the game as well. Did they? I have looked around my PC and can't seem to find a way to launch the game w/o going through the ST TGC Interface which then won't let me launch without connecting to my ST.

Yep, the steam version is a lot of fun. It's normally about $50 but looks like it's on sale right now. I actually got it for $8 several months ago.
The mouse and keyboard work okay but I advise investing in a wireless controller. I bought one for $20 on Amazon. That way I can just sit in my recliner chair and play when I'm too lazy to pick up a club.

I do it all the time. I use my mouse to swing. You drag up and back down while holding the left button down. I do this to preview courses before I publish them if I am in the house and not on my simulator. I go in through the console icon, not through the interface icon.My published Courses, all Lidar:

If you have a skytrak you will have 3 TGC icons on your desktop along with one skytrak icon. One of the TGC icons is the interface, one is your settings, and the last one is the console. You can open the console and open TGC and play with your mouse. I have done this dozens of times with the simulation software and my Skytrak. Your skytrak does not have to be on or even connected to do it.My published Courses, all Lidar:

Mmmmmmm you still have to download the steam version to do this. Are you sure you didn't also download the PC version when you downloaded the sim version?Originally posted by jpotas View PostIf you have a skytrak you will have 3 TGC icons on your desktop along with one skytrak icon. I downloaded steam and purchased TGC 2019 last week so that I could publish a course for somebody that did not have a simulator. It was only $10 so pretty cheap.
Up until that point, since last January, I only had the sim version that was my original setup file from when I purchased ($900) TGC for my Skytrak. I play courses with my mouse while sitting in my house in order to check them out real good when designing. I have done it literally dozens of times. If I remember correctly there is a way to set a controller to do this, never thought about it because I assumed everybody did it.My published Courses, all Lidar:

One funny thing about it. In Steam you drag the mouse down and then up to swing. With my original sim version it is the opposite, up and then back down. This threw me off when I tried it on Steam last week.Last edited by jpotas; 01-05-2021, 11:28 PM.My published Courses, all Lidar:

Just realized how I play those courses. I go into designer and go to the first tee and select "play from here". You can play all 18 holes this way. Your game play will match your normal settings for gimmies. My published Courses, all Lidar:

Interesting..... I've never entered the course designer so I guess that's why I didn't know about this. Weird that I've never seen anyone else mention it though. Is it basically the same as the steam version then? And if that's the case, why would anyone ever buy the steam version? (I want my 8 bucks back lol)Originally posted by jpotas View PostJust realized how I play those courses. I go into designer and go to the first tee and select "play from here". EDIT: Wait ... are you talking about just playing the course you are designing? Or are you talking about playing any course at all.Last edited by 3on3putt; 01-06-2021, 12:20 AM.

You're only talking about playing the course you're designing though, right? Not playing any course that was published by someone else. I knew there was a way to "test play" the courses you're designing. I think the OP was talking about just playing any random course just like in the sim version.Last edited by 3on3putt; 01-06-2021, 12:49 AM.

You are correct, can do everything except hit the ball. It does ask if you want to assign a controller. I will try an X-box controller when I get a chance, but I don't think it will work. Steam is probably the way to go if you want to play all courses.

I’m in a similar predicament here - decided to buy the TGC sim whilst waiting for my SkyTrak to ship (couple of months to wait) thinking I could at least check out my new pc / screen etc. I mailed ProTee and they confirmed the game is a special version that you can’t use with keyboard / mouse so have to pay another 10 bucks to download
i didn’t understand the comments above about the course designer, I can drop into the course but what do you mean by ‘swing but not hit the ball’? My golfer doesn’t move at all with any keys/mouse etc
