Why is it, that on certain courses, the scout function operates so, so poorly? I mean, you hit 'Q' and it gives you a straight down aerial view about 20y in front of the ball instead of actually scouting to the correctly chosen club landing area. What gives?

I am not exactly sure what you mean but I believe the scout function and automatic club selection are chosen according to the waypoint set for the hole. For example, if the first waypoint is set at 300 yards from the tee and your tee shot goes 200 yards, generally, the next shot is set up to have you going for the waypoint, not to the green. Since the designer only allows for one waypoint between tee and green, this can get a little strange with par 5's where you would normally have two waypoints. Additionally, in order to have the yardages match up with the scorecard, the designer might actually have to move the waypoint off the fairway so this might have you aiming some strange direction.

I mean that when I was playing Kapalua Plantation the other day, I would hit my drive and end up in the rough. Following that, I'd aim towards the green with like 6i and hit 'Q', expecting the function to survey about 185y up the fairway, where I'd expect my ball to land. Instead of doing that, it basically did the equivalent of a 10y putting scout, where it went aerial and looked straight at the ground, only 10y in front of where my current spot was. It was doing this for all shots until reaching the green, really frustrating. I then exited around hole 8, went to one of my course designs, and the scout function returned to normal. Weird.

hmm, interesting. Are you using a keyboard or controller? I did a quick test on mine where I had a tee shot in the rough to the right. If I use a lower lofted club such as Lob, Sand or Gap wedge, it gives me the scout in the direction of the waypoint straight ahead. however, when I use the lower lofted clubs, PW and below, it gives me a strange curving action where it starts straight towards the waypoint but then curves around towards the green. If you change clubs does it give you the same direction? I had to go out of scout, change clubs and then go back in scout in order for it to do that. Does it do that all the time in Kapalua (i.e., for every hole), or just happen occasionally?Japan

I'm not sure, I have only played it this once, as it just so happened to line up with the Sentry this week. I noticed it a couple other times(Pine Valley maybe?), but it seems to be course-dependent. The other thing I noticed at times, was the function seemingly wanted to "hug" the ground contours at Kapalua, as it advanced forward, almost like it was attempting to maintain an exact height off the ground while advancing. Weird!! I guess it's not such a big deal, so long as it's not the entire program. I am using a keyboard on a desktop, running OG TGC with my SkyTrak.Last edited by Adam Prince; 01-12-2021, 09:32 AM.

You have to have both the correct club selected as well as the type of shot for scout cam to work properly. For instance, you hit a shot in the heavy rough, the game may automatically suggest LW with a chip shot and have you go sideways. You want to hit to the green so you move your aimpoint there, in order to scout, you must change it to an iron/wood depending upon how far you are away. That won't do it though, you also have to change shot type from chip to normal, now the scout cam will work properly.

Well, I was playing Oakmont US Open C I think it was, and many times, no matter what I tried shot wise, the scout function was totally useless. Club selection and shot-type had no effect on the area it sought out after hitting 'Q'. From the tee it's fine, but on my second and third shots to the greens it many times only wants to do a "putting scout" still. I change courses and it immediately rights itself to functioning as normal, I'm at a loss...
