  • Rewind / Auto Rewind

Just getting up and running with the software (finally)...

When I hit Esc, I don't get a rewind option on the menu. I have Auto Rewind Shot, but it's marked as disabled. Is there a setting somewhere i'm missing?

Rdh, just click on auto rewind to enable it. Once enabled it will work great.

Ah...thanks Bubba. I didn't clue in to it just being a toggle...thought it was disabled and not available. The sad thing is, i'm a software consultant in my day job. Ugh...

      Thanks for the quick response!

By the way, can I nominate Bubba and Zmax for lifetime achievement awards in the simulator community? The dedication from those guys is crazy given that this isn't their line of work...but the golf simulator world is bloody lucky to have them! (Maybe I should start a new thread for this?)

RDH. I think you mentioned there is no rewind option on your menu. I think that is because you set the game up with no gimmie's. Rewind is not available if there is no gimmie's set up. You will still have the auto function but no way to just rewind one shot if you get a bad read or something.

              set gimmie's to 6 foot

Rewind is not related to gimmie's. Its should always be available EXCEPT when on the TEE, because there is no shot to rewind when no shot has been played.

To be sure we just tested with gimmie's enabled and disabled and can confirm rewind is available on our machines (v.2.7.1). Let us know if you are seeing something else.

I stand corrected... When I read the first post I could think of no other reason why rewind was not avail to him. But that makes complete sense now. Thank you.

Sorry guys...just reading these now. I started with release 2.7.1, so i'm good there. I haven't had a chance to play some holes yet (just did some test shots) but I was surprised to see the DISTANCE gimme option lets me go down to 1 yard. Someone had said 2 was the minimum...was that recently changed?

Really, i'm hopeful there will be a way to drop gimmes down to 18 inches at some point...I like putting the 2-3 footers and once in a while one of them lips out (I'm sad to say).

Really short putts are hard to get the simulator to launch the shot. Same is true for a really short chip when you just want to bump it on the green. I like to practice those too but it's just not a good deal on the sim.

Not sure what happens here. The Rewind / Auto Rewind has no influence or any effect on shots not being launched. TGC will launch any shot including really, REALLY short chips and even 1 inch putts.

Shots not being launched is probably related to the hardware you are using.

I can't comment on hardware stuff since i'm in a unique boat being the only person I know with a golftek Pro 7 device. I will say that the shortest putts and chips work well on my hardware...down to a limit of about 1 foot for putts (since the ball is set about 1 foot behind the putt analyzer).

Actually the problem is probably you are standing to close to the sensor and your head is casting a shadow over the sensor. I used to have this issue until I realized it was my fat head.

If I may qualify my statement. Auto rewind was never even in my mind when I made the comment. It was merely to give RDH a heads up on what he might face when setting the gimmie's to low.

Using the Protee (no putting sensor) when the chip is one or two feet. The microphone will not pick up the sound of the club hitting the ball. Therefore no shot is launched. If I talk while I am swinging the shot launches every time. And If I set the mic levels any lower just the foot steps coming onto the stance mat will be enough to enable the shot to launch when you bend over to place the ball. The same is true on putts. This could be limited to just my sim setup but never the less it is what I deal with. The shadow in not the factor as I am very aware of where my shadow is. I monitor it (in my peripheral) on every putt to make sure my head is not moving.

I have never tested the Skytrak to see how short of a shot you can launch.

                              Sorry if I confused anyone.
