  • TGC with QC Quad?

I've had a GC2 for 10 years now, and it's finally broken. My little boy (5) tripped over the power / USB cable and caused it to thump off the floor.
It won't power on anymore (power light comes on for about 10 seconds, then switches off)... so I've decided to upgrade to a QuadMAX. I'm hoping to have it in the next week.

I have FSX Play and a heap of courses, but also have a TGC 2019 licence.

I noticed today that one of my local courses (Trump - International Links, Aberdeenshire) has been replicated on TGC, and would love to try it. One of my friends is a member there, and I've played it a heap of times, so it'd be nice to see how accurate it is. It's also be pretty cool for him to play it too.

I was always under the impression the Quad didn't work with TGC... but in the last few days I've read a few people saying they play TGC with a Quad.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I need to do to make this work please?

It looks like in my upgrade, I’ve somehow lost GSX. I still have the ProTee Interface installed and all my TGC stuff… but I can’t find GSX anywhere. All the links are dead too. Any idea where I can get it?
      Thanks…

Thanks - I’ll give it a go when I get it.

Awesome - thanks. Not really sure what I’m doing though!
Is there a guide anywhere? The GSX / GC2 guide is brilliant.

I’m using the QuadMAX over WiFi, but does it need to be connected by USB to get this to work?

Follow these instructions to an exact tee.

Follow the steps below and in the next few post to initially connect your GC2 to GSX to ProTee Interface. Enjoy! 1: Connect your Bluetooth adapter to your pc's USB

Replace anything that says GSX with this:

        Thanks…

I’m guessing I’m missing out the whole first section on Bluetooth connection, and making COM ports?

I was messing about with it earlier. I could get the ProTee to light up green on GQSX2, but I couldn’t get the Quad to connect to the GQSX2 interface either by WiFi or USB.
FSX Play sees it both on WiFi or USB, so the connection is definitely there.

          Yes. This connects via WiFi.

            I'm still struggling!

Now I know about GQSX2, I've searched the forum for it and found several posts. I've also watched a video on YouTube of someone setting up their Quad and hitting balls in TGC. It looks like it should be straight forward.

            Here's what I'm doing...
My PC is on and my QuadMAX is on.
My PC has a wired connection to the outside world, and I have a Wifi dongle for connecting to the QuadMAX. I connect the QuadMAX to the Wifi. It takes about 30 seconds, and then connects as Wifi with no internet. All good - this is how I use FSX Play.

            I open the Protee Interface.

I open GQSX2, and within about 2 seconds the "protee program" text turns green. I press the "connect" button. The "gcq online" text goes blue for a couple of seconds like it's thinking about it, and then goes back to the brown colour. My understanding is that this should also go green to indicate it's connected, and probably the "direct wifi conn" should go green too?

I already figure this won't work, but I try it anyway - I open TGC and start a match - hit a ball, and nothing happens.

What exactly is GQSX2 looking for when it's searching for a direct connection? I looked at the QuadMAX's network, and it's on a different IP range to my PC. My PC is on 192.168.0.XX and the QuadMAX is 192.168.100.77.

I've also tried connecting the QuadMAX by USB to my PC. Again, FSX Play recognises it immediately when it starts up, but pressing the "usb connect" button on GQSX2 makes the "connected usb" text go yellow for about a second before going back to brown. I assume this is meant to go green if there is a connection?

Has the QuadMAX got new firmware that won't allow a connection, or am I doing something wrong? Every post or article I've seen about connecting a GCQ to TGC is from before 2022, so there doesn't seem to be any up to date information on this.

I don't know what the issue is. It may be that it's a quad max. Try this one. It's not mine. Someone on discord made it to work with GC3's. GSXQ 2 didn't work with GC3. Maybe this one will work for you. Note. Read the readme. You need to install something first.

I'll give it a go when I get home from work - thanks very much.

I tried joining the Discord group to see if I could find out more, but it tells me I don't have access to most of the channels, and the foresight one that's mentioned on lots of older posts here doesn't seem to exist anymore?
Maybe that's just me though - as I've never really used Discord before!

              ParLauncher did the trick!

I connected the QuadMAX by WiFi, started the ProTee interface, and then opened ParLauncher.
I thought it was going to fail as it took about 20 seconds, then told me it had found a Foresight device.

I loaded up TGC, started a match, and hit a ball. Nothing happened. Then as I was picking my ball up, suddenly the on screen ball flew off the tee. I had it set to ball and club, so the delay was about 5+ seconds.
I changed the config file to just ball data, and now it’s pretty much instant.

Thank you for your help with this mthunt - much appreciated.

That's great news. I know on Foresight, it sends 3 packets. You can see it live on FSX. It first reads ball speed and direction then spin is added then club data. You can mess around with it. Sometimes it's just the first shot that's slow. Maybe more. You may need to turn off club data or it'll be like Skytrack.
