  • TGC Distances vs Protee 2.0

How come the distance when I hit a club in TGC is about 10yds longer than when I hit the same club in protee 2.0 with all the settings the same in the interface. It does this with all the clubs. I would say the distance in Protee are closer to real for me than the distance in TGC. And what adjustment in the interface should I make to reduce this distance.

Yes I've noticed this as well.

You guys are using Protee and see that.... but I noticed with a GC2 and the GSX file we use to play either the Protee or TGC, that if things are set to 0 for all clubs, most of the carry yards used in TGC are lower than what the GC2 readout says. In the past I needed to have things at 2 or 3 for most all clubs. With that only the odd time the yardage is off when testing on a flat range.

I do find from testing the GC2 outside that a scull shot or a low driving shot tends to read too long on the GC2 where those seem to be calculated better in TGC and come up shorter like they should. However I can't take TGC to the real outdoor range to test as I would need a 2nd version. I can only test with Foresight software on the laptop and then compare those two.

I still need more testing at the real range (running out of season) to get a better idea of the off line right or left with foresight software as that may be too much calculated in their software on bad hooks and slices. But years back when I tested the Foresight software and Protee software they were both equal with the Red Chain courses.

So what is the preferred method to shorten distance in the interface club speed or ball drag or a different method?

Ball Drag. Lowering Drag = More Distance. This way to change the game physics.
When you tweak club speed or ball speed you are altering the actual sensor readings.

What version are you using of GSX and TGC? What firmware? When I first got TGC, I was hitting it too far. I went with the recommended GSX/TGC/GC2 versions and it's fine now.

I assume you are using the Protee Pad system and wondering about adjustments for distance? I use the GC2 so if that is the case someone else with a Protee will need to chime in.

Ball Drag I think would be the correct way. That alters the physics engine in the game, if you alter Club Speed is it changing the sensors reading.. Not what you want.

Also, I imagine the difference in distance or ball flight is the result of the physics engines each game uses. Not sure they use the same engine.

Ball drag is how I do it.

It's not just protee. My GSA system was showing about 10-15% further. I have it set up pretty well now. 2 buddies and I hit about 100 drives and mid irons to calibrate. The bad part is that my longest drive is inflated by about 25 yards. Too bad you just can't zero a stat like that out and start fresh.
