  • GC2 new and just TGC

Can you currently buy a new GC2 with no software then buy just the TGC software?? as of Jan 9,2016?? this appears to be the system that is the best of both worlds??? Not sure if this has been answered definitively........

Been answered a few hundred times.... Yes, but you have to find a rep that will sell you the base unit without upselling the SDK fee, which is a charge for software that is not required...

I don't think Foresight makes you pay the SDK fee.... just simply tell them (if they ask) that you plan on use it outdoors at the range.

I asked par2prp that question. Hasn't said yes or no. I haven't pushed for an answer yet. To be clear - the question I asked is waving the SDK cost.

I'd say "I'm a club fitter using the device outdoors with my iPad app"

I don't know why there is such a problem with just buying the base unit, isn't that what they are in business for? to sell product?, if they want to sell software, then produce good software and it will sell........supply and demand, people buy what they figure is the best within their budget. This whole simulator business is the craziest thing that I have come across......but it IS FUN.

I can't use that line with par2pro because they know me well. I bought virtually all of my sim stuff from them. If they don't wave the sdk fee and I ultimately give up on skytrak, i'll use your suggestion with another dealer. Thanks.

Or just be up front with them since they know you. someone is going to sell me a gc2 without the sdk, do you want it to be you? Can't believe they would turn down a 6k+ sale.

I don't know enough about the sale process for gc2. Can I say that with confidence - specifically - someone will sell me.....? If so, that is the approach I'll take. Thank you for the suggestion.

It's easy to overthink this. As the potential customer you decide what you want to buy. If you don't want the SDK then don't buy it. If they won't sell you what you want then look elsewhere. If no-one will, then buy a different product. I see no reason we must justify to foresight why we want or don't want something. We are the customer! They need customers. Customers don't need them. There are other options.

You can call Foresight sales and tell them that your are looking for a LM to use outdoors at the range and if they ask you if your going to use it for sim say no.
Foresight can and will sell the unit at a lower price than retail shops can you just have to ask them for the best price they can give you

I bought from Foresight Canada direct. He was great with me. My buddy confirmed with Foresight Canada that they are now charging the $1000 SDK fee on new units unless you buy their software. I'm not sure if they'll enforce it but he was told they are. It's a crappy move if they enforce it.

From a Canadian Foresight Dealer via email.

"Perfect Golf and TGC are software not supported by our company. We require a purchase of GC2 and one of our software packages in order to maintain your warranty and support. Third party software is then available to you without sacrificing warranty and support." That's tacky stuff. I'll have to follow up with a call.

As mentioned on the Foresight thread, this is not going to be a wise move in the long run with the landscape shifting from big box stores to home use and more competition entering the field.

As the things shift, a lot of companies are looking for a bite of every single piece of the pie.

I realize that they have spent a lot of money on R&D. That being said, as a consumer, if I can get a product that reliably does the same thing at a far lower price, that's the way I'm going.

If they are now forcing people to buy poor quality software for $1,000, they are putting one of their own feet in the grave is the ES16 turns out to work as promised.

This what I've learned from foresight US: you can buy a standalone gc2 and tgc, but you are on your own re support and, believe it or not, a warranty. This sounds silly because if it were true they could sell you a defective unut and you would have no recourse. Highly improbable.

FS also said that updates to FSX are coming soon that will make it a meaningfully better sim offering.
