  • Skytrak vs Uneekor

With some of these tests with Uneekor vs GC2 and SkyTrak, can anyone tell me why I would pay 6k more for the Uneekor.

Trying to make a decision here soon.

Some of the reasons I am interested in upgrading to the Uneekor from SkyTrak are:

    1. I have left handed friends and family that I avoid having over because it's a complete pain in the ass to move with my current set-up.
    2. I think having the club data would be very valuable and beneficial.
    3. I transport my ST back and forth from the house to the garage with each session. I like the idea of the Uneekor being mounted and not having to worry about transporting or alignment.
    4. The customer service sounds amazing!
    5. Although I only get a few 'no-reads' with the ST, I would rather not have any.

I think the list provided above is helpful and I would offer one other point of clarification...it would be $4,500 more, not $6k more.
For me, I am a lefty and I would enjoy playing more with my right handed friends if I did not have to physically move the system after every shot.

        Less delay?

No delay. I assume it is the same as your GC2. Pretty cool

Great question, and I have had the QED for a couple weeks now and here are my reasons:

1)The QED offers video verification of everything. You can actually see the club pass through the ball. I love this.

2)You get a complete swing analysis program with the software. Front/Back view with drawing tools and frame by frame playback. (worth at least $1K to me)

3)Pitching/Chipping/Putting - I think the QED excels in these areas. I can't tell you how many times Skytrack users have to keep re-swinging to try and get the unit to register a short chip. Kills the sim experience plus online tournament playing. You end up having to hit a much harder chip than you want to simply get the unit to read.

4)Pitching/Chipping (more) - The pitching/chipping/putting on QED is much more accurate IMO than other launch monitors. Everyone wants to talk about distances of drivers, etc. but I think most are missing the point. For me, in real golf, most of the strokes to be gained are around the green - pitching and chipping. If I can improve my pitching/chipping(50 yards and in) so that I am putting the ball 6 to 8 feet to the pin, instead of 20-30 feet my game will vastly improve. THEREFORE, it is more important to me that a 10 yard chip be captured accurately than say a drive that registers 260 yards, but should have been 280 yds. The skytrack may be close on full shots, but it is not on chipping/pitching.

5)The overhead monitor is great for left/right play and for a nice, clean look in my sim

6)Installation and calibration is a breeze.

7)No issues with keeping unit level, worrying about the red dot, or having to play flop shots ahead or behind red dot to get it to read, etc.

      8) NO SHOT DELAY

      9) I believe the Uneekor QED will be further developed, enhanced, and promoted. I believe in the people behind the company,

Those are my reasons, are they worth $4.5k which is the difference between the units????? In my book, yes. But, if I didn't have the $4.5k, I would get a skytrack.

The Uneekor is less expensive than a comparable GC2+HMT or GCQuad. I'm planning on moving from a GC2 to a Uneekor. My rationale is it will cost me another $4K to add an HMT unit to my existing GC2 to get club head data, where I can get a Uneekor for $2K more. I don't use the portability of the GC2, so the ceiling mount is ideal. I love the accuracy of the GC2, so the Uneekor will need to prove itself nearly as accurate for me to keep.

          Hey Gene,

Might need to contact Uneekor about this directly but my golf sim is in the garage and I live in Chicago. The temp varies all the way from 20F to 95F. Do you know if uneekor has any temp restrictions? I use a heater in the winter to get things up to 45-50F. Summertime I just forego the hot days.
          My courses:
          Aldeen
          Butler National
          Cantigny
          Canyata
          Cog Hill #4
          Harbor Shores
          Harborside
          Naperville Country Club
          Prairie Landing
          Rich Harvest Farms
          Ruffled Feathers
          Shoreacres

I would be more concerned about the condensation than the temperature in the winter.

The Uneekor monitor can actually be removed from its bracket pretty easily if you don't mind climbing up a couple of stairs on a ladder.

One method you could try is to put velco strips on the Uneekor and on a mounting bracket/board, then just take it in and out of the cold environment to minimize any temperature damage.

It's really easier than that....The unit basically just "hangs" in the slots of the bracket. If you wish, you could step on ladder and unhook it in 30 seconds

What is the proper height and how far back is it behind the hitting area.

They recommend 9-10ft ceilings (they have had issues above and below). It sits 3.5ft behind the hitting area.

My ceilings are 11 feet. Is it possible to hang it lower ?

Absolutely, stack some 2 by 6’s from your ceiling, mount the bracket to the bottom of those, you are golden. Or do it fancy and build a box that drops from the ceiling. I wish I had your tall ceiling problems!
            Working...
