  • Camera options for Uneekor

Fellow Uneekor users, looking for feedback on successful deployment of 3rd party cameras that work well with my QED. I know a number of users have tested various solutions with moderate success. Uneekor has announced the Swing Motion system but at $1400 it is expensive. We are fairly new to this level of analysis and envision occasional use of the cameras. Any advice not the following would be very helpful. We love our system and the support we have received from the Uneekor team.

1 What model, spec, costs and results
    2 Lighting requirements
    3. Capture and storage
    4 Software requirement
5 The benefits of the Uneekor Swing Motion camera option; Unclear if this comes with a separate software package
    6. Overall benefit of a camera system

    Thanks so much.

I have the chinese cameras off of Amazon that Uneekor used to (maybe still does?) recommend at $50 a pop. For me they work great with the Ignite system but it's obvious that they are cheap in terms of image quality.

They are not wide angle so they need to be a fair distance away to pick you up entirely. I only have about 10 ft for my face on camera so something is always cut off. On top of that the rear camera has enough distance but if I zoom out all the way with the optical zoom it the manual focus can't focus on me so even with that one I cant quite keep what I want in frame, losing the top of the backswing.

There is a fair amount of motion blur so you cannot see the shaft clearly when paused (which I understand is due to lighting conditions and aperture rather than frames per second, not a video expert though). This would probably be improved if I installed better lighting but I usually operate in low light garage conditions to see the projection better.

Ignite's video analysis tools are kind of weak and buggy. I assume the new camera package's software is a big improvement.

All of that said, for $100 or so they have been a fantastic investment and I've learned a lot about my swing from it and IMO it's a no brainer unless you want to jump right in to the more expensive stuff. I think my game has improved more just from regularly having the video feedback than it has getting the extra practice and play in. Once some reviews are in I'll probably be upgrading to Uneekor's camera system since the quality and software are undoubtedly much higher but I more than got my money's worth with the initial set up.

Here are two video I did comparing the high speed camera to the cheaper one from China, cheaper one uses less light but the high-speed doesn't blur the golf club. They are still working on the software and improving it, so waiting to see what the final will be.

Thanks for the feedback, would love to get a bit more clarity from Uneekor on the software that is expected to ship with the Swing Motion system. I am sure they will have a number of informative videos.

The Kayeton 120fps camera has been mentioned a few times on this board, but unsure if there has been a video of it posted in action. Does anyone know of a link?

This is an ignite capture. Make sure you buy a IR filtered adjustable lens. The fixed len's are a pain to deal with to get the right zoom. My lights are dimmed fairly low, the picture gets better if I turn the lights up. I only turn the lights up when i'm practicing and want to break something down on video.

            Awesome setup.
Good advice on having a zoom lens. I'll probably get the Kayeton when it's all said and done.

What would put it over the top for me is the ability to have ignite on the same screen as tgc similar to your youtube video. Right now my laptop screen has ignite and the projector screen has tgc. Being able to have the bottom portion with ignite showing the club impact path and swing video would be amazing.

We use a tool named Ontopreplica for the overlay of Ignite data on the same screen.

I could send you a slow motion video with my Kayeton monochrome cameras in Ignite. For swing analysis the quality is good enough.

Birdie, I will have to try Ontopreplica. I am a Mac User and still figuring out the best set up for projection and our touchscreen display. Can you send a screenshot?

birdie thanks for the info for ontopreplica! Definitely going have to give it a try.
Can it save your settings or do you have to set it up everytime?

Bought the Kayeton cameras to compare with the swing Optix. I cannot see the image in Ignite, anything specific I need to do?

Birdie, purchased the Kayeton camera to compare with the Swing Optix. We are experiencing an intermitent extremely bright image prior to swinging. I reached out to the manufacturer with no response. Did you happen to experience this with your set up?

I mean I had a problem setting it up, but I'm not sure yet, it was already one year ago. I remember that I used a video tool named "amcap" to change settings of the camera like brightness.

Ignite data in TGC with Ontopreplica. You can save the window and you can open it twice or more to overlay more data. But here is my setup in TGC:

This is how I use it for practice. Use TGC2019 for the range and use Ontopreplica to insert the video of club impact. I really like it, but if you are practicing around water it sucks to drop your ball every time you hit water. I wish TGC2019 would add an "auto drop" feature. You just watched your ball go into the water, I don't see why you need to confirm it at the computer, especially when you are in rewind mode anyway. Just kinda dumb I think.

Ontopreplica was a great suggestion. I was trying to figure out where to put the window. Right now I settled to have just the club path over the wind gauge if wind is disabled.

I guess I find it fun to pound away at a hole like Sawgrass 17. I have the Ignite data running on the computer and the swing video on the screen in TGC. John gets a little confused (rewind makes him think I always hit the green!).

Sorry, kind of old comment but curious why not? I'm looking at GCQ and Uneekor Eye XO so learning as much as I can.

I have received and set up the Swing Optix from uneekor and will post some images when I get a chance. Unfortunately there is no additional software that ships with the camera system. This is a major disappointment to me and one that may result in my returning the product. As it stands there is not way that I can figure out to replay your swing motion in a separate window. As others have mentioned, the Ignite software camera capture included software is somewhat unwieldy. For $1400 I would expect a more polished software that can be run concurrently with Ignite

Surprised as well there is no new software, looking forward to seeing some images. Jay's $ 200 camera is looking compelling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh3_...k4-TxCzA70P1GI

Scott, did you return the Swing Optix cameras? Having a difficult time getting rid of the LED flickering and improving the image. Upgrading my spots to BR30 5000K 100W equivalents.

The no software is disappointing. I hope they at least update Ignite's functionality at least then at some point here. Would love to hear your impressions of how well they do in lowish light conditions (such as normal course play) and how much distance they need from you to capture your full swing.

Further to my post above, I didn't get an answer so just bought two of these: https://www.amazon.com/Global-Shutte...XYNNS0S6B7S174. I've only had them installed for less than an hour, but they appear to work great. Probably because monochrome, they even work with my lights off (ambient light).

All good. By the way...if anyone is considering them...the shipping time is way off. I delayed buying thinking it would take 1-2 months for them to arrive (per the Amazon listing)....but they showed up within a week.

Are they mountable on a tripod? Have 1 on order for testing and comparing it to the Swing Optix camera.

Bought them last week and they arrived in less than a week too. Won't get a chance to try them out until next week but looking forward to seeing how much of an upgrade they are to the cheap ones Uneekor initially recommended.
