  • Camera options for Uneekor

Fellow Uneekor users, looking for feedback on successful deployment of 3rd party cameras that work well with my QED. I know a number of users have tested various solutions with moderate success. Uneekor has announced the Swing Motion system but at $1400 it is expensive. We are fairly new to this level of analysis and envision occasional use of the cameras. Any advice not the following would be very helpful. We love our system and the support we have received from the Uneekor team.

1 What model, spec, costs and results
    2 Lighting requirements
    3. Capture and storage
    4 Software requirement
5 The benefits of the Uneekor Swing Motion camera option; Unclear if this comes with a separate software package
    6. Overall benefit of a camera system

    Thanks so much.

Thanks for all the great info here guys. I'm trying to figure out what lenses to get. I've got 9' wall to hitting spot for camera facing me, and 11' wall to hitting spot behind me. Of course with a tripod it'd be less. The thing I'm confused about is that the base recommendation here seems to be the 2.0mm (or is it 2.1?) lens for about 7' of distance from the hitting area. Yet the swing optix camera is a 2.5mm lens and their installation guide recommends positioning distances from the hitting area of just 5' from facing you and 6' behind you. Is this just because of field of view differences?

Thank you for your feedback and pics. Yeah it does look a little far away. I was going to mount mine on the wall, but now I might just get a couple of inexpensive tripods so I can move them closer when in use, and put them in the corner out of the way when not in use. It looks like the next bigger lens they have is 2.6mm, and I'm afraid that might be a little too much. Has anyone else used the 2.6mm lens camera, and if, how far away from your hitting spot do you mount them?

JayBrd85 stevnkrn myrison any advice/clarification- with several options on the spinel website for 120fps monochrome cameras, keen to ensure I order the right model. Approx distance from DTL is about 7-8ft and 7-8ft from face one view for my set up. Some of you have experimented with default (2.1mm) vs 1.7mm models. In the pics myrison posted previously it appears image is distorted ie possibly gone with a model without non-distortion lens. Do you reckon therefore I should be fine with UC10MPC_ND_BH36 model of all else is similar to your set ups wrt to IR filters etc? It comes with Non-distortion lens and seems most of the other specs are similar if not the same as the 1.7mm model.

If I need to adjust proximity this model seems to have manual focus + I can move the tripod set up back and forth if needed. https://store.spinelelectronics.com/UC10MPC_ND_BH36?
With an international delivery, I don’t want to get the order wrong as any returns/swaps etc are not that easy or cost more.

Hi 14MPH. I'm not sure I understood what you say about "image is possibly gone without a non-distortion lens." Just to make sure you saw, I posted videos in this post (https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...004#post320004) once I'd almost finished dremeling the new case. The earlier images being blacked out around the edges was just from a separate case with too small an opening for the lens if that's what you're referring to. Without the case, it was a full-sized image. (after those videos I did even more dremling and all the black at the edges disappeared, but I don't have newer videos than those)

re: distances and cameras, the side wall for me is the 1.7mm at ~3.5' and the back wall is the standard 95 degree. Also somewhere in this thread I list the distance from the back wall camera as well, which I can't remember off hand (and I'm away from home sorry) but believe is ~10' from the center of the hitting area. I could afford to be a bit more zoomed in from that distance so a different lens might be slightly better, and since it's important to be precise to you, I'd recommend you try to find the post where I show the exact dimensions of everything. Since you have the ability to move a tripod around, this one should work for you ok, as a couple of feet closer would seem like the sweet spot for me with that lens (assuming my 10' memory of distance is correct).

Lastly, just to make sure you have all the info, both the UC10MPC_ND and the UC10MPC_ND_BH36 you mention in your comment have manual focus. I think it's the exact same lens just put into a housing from Spinel. I'd definitely recommend the model with the case to get everything you need for only $10 more.

I purchased Spinel cameras from Amazon and I am attempting to hook them up. Where do I set them up in Refine or Ignite? They are showing in my computer available for web conferences, but don't show up when I click on settings in Refine. Any help would be appreciated.

I figured out last night how to get get the cameras on. That is tricky, and I plan on posting it for everyone else with screen prints The Spinel cameras are suppose to only be 120 FPS, but one of the cameras configurations I could pick was 200FPS at the same resolution.

Now that I have the cameras working, how do I record in Refine software? The icon is greyed out. I wanted to download a couple of my swings on camera for review by my pro.

They have 2 cameras that come in enclosures. Looks like the difference between this: https://store.spinelelectronics.com/UC10MPC_ND_BH36? and this: https://store.spinelelectronics.com/...10MPC_L20_BH36 is the lens. Per their description pages, the first has a "95 degree non-distortion Lens" and the second has a "2.0mm Lens, H.FOV 120 degree". Which do you think would be the best for the golf sim, or what frankly is the difference? Seems like the field of view wouldn't really matter, and 95 degrees would be plenty given the proximity of the camera to the subject. Thoughts?

If you look back a few pages you'll see a sampling video of a 95 degree lens and can decide if that's wide enough for you given how far away you are from where the camera will be. Mine works great from around 8'. If you are a lot closer than that, you might benefit from the wider lens. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother as it'll just make the image of you/your swing smaller.

bworden I bought 2 of the Spinel cameras in the case with the 2.0mm lens. I also bought 2 of the 1.7mm lenses just in case. The FOV angle tells you how wide you can see an image for a certain distance from the camera to the target. So the bigger FOV angle, the wider of an image you can see. Here's an image to show. D in the drawing would be the distance from the camera to the ball for a down the line view. So it's trigonometry to figure out W for a given D and FOV angle and you can find free triangle calculators online. But you can see as the FOV angle gets higher, W can get higher for a certain depth, D. The width you need is the ball all the way to your back and also some more to see the club in your backswing.

For the face-on camera, I only have 3ft from the wall to the ball. The 2mm lens is a bit too low of a FOV angle, but if you rotate the camera 90deg, you can get more vertical field of view. And then in the View software, you can rotate the picture so it looks correct. The 2mm lens is still a bit too big so I might change to the 1.7mm lens at some point.

Here's one of my EYEXO sessions and you can see the videos in the Swing tab. The down the line view shows a bigger picture compared to what is shown in the View software. I have the DTL camera set 9ft back from the ball. I can probably go to 6-7ft with this 120deg FOV angle and capture everything.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks COgolfengineer. I do understand FOV, but am really wondering the other aspects of the lenses on the 2 products given they are both 2.0mm lenses. Sorry I wasn't more clear in my earlier post. The 95 degree FOV camera specifically states "non-distortion lens" while the 120 degree FOV camera does not. I've got more like 6-8' of distance between my cameras and my hitting area, so I'm thinking the 95 degree FOV would be okay, and in fact the 120 may be a little much (but I could bring closer in if mounted on tripods if the 120 is somehow better in another way). Thanks again - and your videos were helpful!

bworden oh gotcha. I see the 95deg lens is actually 2.1mm. For low distortion, it probably doesn't have a fisheye lens whereas the 2.1mm does have a fisheye lens to get a wider FOV. You can see in my DTL video, that the sides of the picture is very rounded which is the fisheye effect and distorts the image. So I imagine the 2.1mm lens, 95deg FOV lens doesn't have any of the roundness on the sides. I'm sure someone with that lens can comment.

The 2mm lens, 120deg FOV lens does give you more placement options compared to the 2.1mm lens, so I would get that one. And I don't even see that distortion in the Uneekor View software and only see it when I export the sessions to the Power U cloud.

I got the Spinel cameras that stevnkrn mentioned and got the cases 3d printed.

They are amazing and well worth the money as I didn't want to spend over 1k on cameras.

So I love reviewing video after a shot but is there a way to save or download these?

I want to save / download some of these and send them to an online coach to review so he can give me some feedback.

You can save them to Uneekor’s online service using a “power swing card.” It’s not intuitive to find, but click on the Uneekor logo in the upper left of refine and you’ll see an option to log in and save a shot. It will give you a QR Code and link after you can share with your coach.

I have the Spinel cameras and find I have to turn on Low Light Compensation in the Amcap program for the picture to look clear. If it's not on, the picture is very grainy and very high contrast, so the picture shows dark things as black and lighter things as white.

So I have a couple questions.
        1. With the Low Light Compensation turned on, does this degrade the fps? I can still select 120fps in View and the video looks fine but I do see some club blur near impact.
        2. I imagine to not need Low Light Compensation, the room probably needs a lot of light. So how much?
        3. When I look at the camera stream in Amcap, it shows the fps is 60 in the bottom right corner. But if I record a video in Amcap and look at the properties of the saved video file, it shows 120fps. What have other people done to verify the fps in View/Ignite and/or Amcap or other software?
        Thanks!

So I wound up purchasing 2 of these (https://store.spinelelectronics.com/UC10MPC_ND_BH36?). Got them hooked up and integrated into QED just fine and they work great. However the threaded hole in the mounting bracket is smaller than I thought. Has anyone mounted these to a wall bracket or tripod mount? Is there some sort of adapter to get from this fairly tiny threaded hole to a larger one?

Has anyone tried to order from Spinel lately? I tried to order 2 cams today and got this... " Products marked with *** are not available in the desired quantity or not in stock!"

I ordered from Amazon (from Spinel), fast shipping was nice, though these don't include the case:

Thanks, I might have to do that. I've got an email in to them inquiring about when they will be back in stock. I'm hoping they aren't discontinued.

Update: After a failed attempt with 3rd party cameras we decided to make the investment in the Swing Optix cameras. We find we use them ALL the time. Although expensive, the seamless integration, color and frame rate makes the investment worthwhile. The most effective way to improve your swing mechanics.

I'm trying to setup the Spinal cameras, but for some reason View crashes every time I click the swing tab settings button.

                Has anyone else experienced this?

Both versions should be on the USB stick that came with your Uneekor, but if you don't have that any longer, you'll have to wait for someone who has the XO to post back here as I only have the download link for the QED software and the EyeXo packages aren't there.

Found the reason for the crash from the unity player.log file.

I had some old 3rd party webcam drivers installed on my computer and the View software tried to connect using that. Removed those and the View stopped crashing.
              Working...
