  • How does my projector connect to my laptop?

Sorry for the noob question, but how does the projector connect to the laptop/pc? I'm just trying to get an idea for the basic setup architecture before I install my Uneekor system - and which lines I'll have to fish through my walls. Is it direct connection via HDMI to the laptop or is the projector connected to the Uneekor directly and then in series via HDMI directly to the laptop?

Uneekor to laptop by LAN cable.
    Laptop to projector by HDMI.

awesome, thanks. And is it possible to forgo the HDMI to laptop connection and use a wireless dongle? If so, does this slow down or cause any kind of delay with the graphics?

My projector struggles to maintain the HDMI connection even with a cable. It will loose the signal and then it comes back. Very annoying. I doubt the lag time would really be an issue if it is reliable.

One thing to keep in mind if you are trying to maximize graphics is that your HDMI cable may not be up to snuff. There are different tiers of HDMI cables that process different 1080p and 4K speeds. Also, Display port cables are usually better than HDMI for speed and picture quality.

It could also be a combination of the length and the cables ability to pass the required bandwidth for 4K (assuming you are trying for 4K). Suggest having a look at an active high speed cable from mono price. Just make sure you plug the source end of the cable into the computer.

Yes, wireless HDMI kits are available for around $200 -- sold at Best Buy, Amazon, Monoprice, etc. Reviews are generally mixed, and there's a ~0.5 second lag. My view is you're spending a lot of money on the system, so you're better off running the cable once and ensuring a good experience. Monoprice in particular is a great source for HDMI cables -- far cheaper than Best Buy and the like -- some of which are very thin, relatively easy to fish, and capable of carrying a 1080p signal a very long distance.

I ended up fishing my Ethernet and HDMI cables through my walls. Had to buy a Klein 8' drill bit to bore through one fireblock in the wall, but other than that it was easy. Given the cost and the lag, I'm glad I went the hardwired route.
