  • Swing Optix Screen flicker experience?

I am having trouble finding a projector with lcd tech that will fit my setup and I am wanting to know from those that have used optix with the screen flicker how bad it is? is it tolerable? Lots of projectors will work for me with DLP but I don't want to absolutely hate the optix. thanks for any input.

You will learn to live with it. Kind of embarrassing to show your friends that you bought the wrong projector. I consider it more of a pride issue than a functional issue. Since you have a good reason to go DLP, it might not bother you. I don't think it really effects the usefulness of the camera. It is only an issue for the camera pointed down the line. Front view is fine.

Thanks for the response. That's what I assumed to be the case but I hadn't found anyone to actually describe it. I appreciate it.

Thanks! Yes I could see it. That shows me what I wanted to see. First real example of it I had been able to look at. Do you find it bothersome or have you leaned to live with? sure appreciate it!

When I first installed the cameras and saw the flicker I immediately started shopping for an LCD projector. Not finding anything that fit my setup at a modest price, I procrastinated and did not purchase anything. Before long, the flicker really didn't bother me. I can see what I need to see, and the background flashing just doesn't warrant spending the extra money on a different projector. If my DLP quits I will probably go the LCD route, but hopefully there will be a more economical LCD option at that time (or maybe I will have a different setup to accommodate left handers and use a short throw?).

LCD is a great way to go, but personally I would have a hard time paying a big premium for it over DLP.

I have the optix hooked up to a DLP, and I purchased flicker free track lights to ensure those don't create more flicker. To be honest, you are using the optix to view your swing, you don't really notice the screen flicker from the back screen. Just make sure you get flicker free lights.

        Hi,
I made a video on how to adjust the flickering on the Swing optix camera. We currently run LK936ST benq laser DLP projectors and we were able to get ride of the flickering. check out the video I made showing how to fix the issue. You have to adjust the bandwidth on the cameras to adjust the FPS. the bandwidth needs to be set to 1494 for both cameras for our 60hz projector. you can adjust the bandwidth to get different FPS if you still have a slight color change.

I don’t have those cameras but isn’t one of the major benefits of getting them versus an aftermarket camera their high frames per second capabilities? Is the flicker so bad that you have to handicap the cameras in order to avoid it?
