  • Longer cables for Swing Optix

The supplied Swing Optix 2.7m USB3 cables are not long enough for my lefty wife to set the cameras up.
    Any suggestions?
Would an active USB extension work? Or can I purchase another 5m USB3 repeater cable somewhere in Canada?

USB extension cables will not work. We ordered this cable with great results, comes in different lengths. I ordered the 12M version of this cable, https://www.ntcdistributing.com/usb-...-a-to-micro-b/

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, I know this one works fine for me: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303697932976

I have used this one for IDS cameras. You do need to add power to them but they work really well.

Update: Uneekor support advised to use an active USB3 extension to lengthen Swing Opix cables, and provided this link as an example:

Did they say what the maximum length could be? I need a 30 ft cable. Most of those active cables are much shorter.

They did not specify what a maximum extension would be. Do you need 30' in total or 30' in addition to the length of cable that came with the SO? I purchased the 16' active extension cable in the link they provided and plugged it into the 9' cable that came with the SO, for a total of 25' and it worked perfectly. I can try plugging the extension to the 16' SO cable to see if it also works at that length (32' total) if you only need 30' total (let me know if you want me to try that), but if you need 30' additional to the lengths of the SO cables I'm guessing 2 of these active extensions connected together could work. It wouldn't be an expensive experiment...

I have the 32' foot uGreen cable (link above) and works fine with IDS cameras (which has a 6' USB 3.0 cable - total length is 38'), if that helps at all! Should work with with Swing Optics cameras as well.

Awesome, yea I think I need about 36 feet total, so 38 would be perfect.

You will have to test it out for Swing Optics, but, I have to power the cable (the UGreen comes with USB plug) in order to keep the signal strength. I have a cheap 10' usb cable that I plug into a nearby power strip (behind a bookcase) - works great.

What is the longest extension cable anybody has successfully used with Swing Optics? I need about 44'. Bonus points if you can provide a link

Don't know about Swing Optics, but I have used 32ft long active extension cable with IDS cameras without issues. They sell up to length of 100ft as well but I don't have actual experience.
