Yea, just played 18 on this course and it was definitely nice to look at but 100% a video game course. Small fairways, large elevation changes at times and all to tiny greens. The plants didnt effect too much but still was overdone a bit to play a sim round on as you thought. I enjoyed the views but wouldnt play this one again personally.

Hi mthunt, Silly, SILLY, that's charming, I go to all that trouble to make a course and you say it's silly, lol, I'm not offended, I just tried something different for this course, with 80,000 + courses out there a lot looking all the same I wanted this course to look different, I didn't design it with Pro tee in mind but all of my courses have reasonably wide fairways and not too severe greens, my last few courses have reasonable ratings why not see if you prefer one of those, Royal Auchtermuren, Lochry Doon and Vale Meadows I'm sure if you played Spirit Valley it wouldn't play as silly as you think it looks, give them a go and give me feedback as to what you Pro tee boys are after, I'm half way through my latest course, if there's anything specific your looking for perhaps I can incorporate it into the course, cheers enef56

@Enef, anyone who takes the time to design a course is always appreciated. Even more so when they make changes to make them sim friendly. I personally haven't tried this course and that's primarily due to the pictures.
A very small percentage of golfers are able to play tight courses at 7000+ yards and score well, most of them do it for a living. Take a look at the leaderboard for the Valspar Classic which was at royal Troon (6500 yards, almost impossible to hit it somewhere without a look at the green). That gives an idea of the typical sim crowd. Most people were in the 5-15 over per round range. Far better than your 1x a month player, but not exactly competing for a spot at Augusta.
If you're saying the pics aren't representative and it's a little more forgiving than it seems, then I'm willing to give it a shot later this week. I'm a 11 handicap in real life and probably a little worse than the average golfer in this forum, but could still give you an opinion. Let me know if you're interested.

Yea I personally have played it and definitely enjoyed myself but felt a little tough for sim play, but have played it on the video game since and played really well. It does look fantastic, that's what jumped me at it the first day it was posted here, you did a great job on it. I really like challenging myself to fun and tough courses at times and only reason I said I wouldnt play it again is because I still don't feel like smaller greens hold too well for us sim guys (but know they are working on it and haven't tried the new update yet if that addresses it at all) and I can hit the ball pretty well at times with spin I'd expect to stop quicker (for reference I'll hit my 7 iron 175-180 with 6000 or so spin on average). So even with that I still feel like I have to land the ball in the perfect spot in the front of some of the greens or I'd run off. So definitely not your fault, if the greens held a bit more for the settings the sim guys all have I'd 100% play again. Would recommend for people to take a look at leastOriginally posted by enef56 View PostHi mthunt, Silly, SILLY, that's charming, I go to all that trouble to make a course and you say it's silly, lol, I'm not offended, I just tried something different for this course, with 80,000 + courses out there a lot looking all the same I wanted this course to look different, I didn't design it with Pro tee in mind but all of my courses have reasonably wide fairways and not too severe greens, my last few courses have reasonable ratings why not see if you prefer one of those, Royal Auchtermuren, Lochry Doon and Vale Meadows I'm sure if you played Spirit Valley it wouldn't play as silly as you think it looks, give them a go and give me feedback as to what you Pro tee boys are after, I'm half way through my latest course, if there's anything specific your looking for perhaps I can incorporate it into the course, cheers enef56

As I said in my earlier post i haven't designed any of my courses with sim in mind, to be honest I read posts all the time were sim guys have played courses and ask for sim friendly, I've never had that so it's either sim guys have never played my courses or maybe the fairway and greens are already good enough for you guys to play as they are, I never make pinched in fairways and always make receptive greens but saying that you still have to hit a good shot, as you would in real life, as I said I wasn't offended I was pleased at least the course was being discussed any feedback is good feedback.

Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain...
Awesome design! We really appreciate all the efforts you have put into this one.
Playing tight fairways and big elevation changes are a challenge for real golfers. Its A LOT more difficult for real golfers to stay on the fairways then it is for mouse players. It quickly takes the fun out of the game when you constantly need to play out of the bushes. Therefor real golfers will prefer a course with wider fairways and less elevation changes. Many designers make special versions of their creations for us to play, which we really appreciate. We can't thank them enough for doing this. They make the course a bit shorter (around 6600 yards) and widen and flatten the fairways.
So if anytime this year you are bored you now know how to get your course on the ProTee favorites list for real play!

Hi everyone thanks for discussing Spirit Valley, any more feedback is welcome if you've played it, I have almost completed Apache Falls pics are on the hb work in progress page, I have made major changes to this course since discovering you played Spirit Valley, I have made every fairway much wider although the couple of holes with a big elevation Change I've kept, the name will change after discovering there is already an Apach Falls so I will keep you posted, I have made a falls opposite the 9th green which so far has been well received, many thanks for playing Spirit Valley. Ps I did try getting the pics on here without success don't know what I'm doing different to the hb site, thanks Nigel

Sweet, I'm gonna check it out tonight or tomorrow. I definitely like your design style that I saw spirit valley, look forward to giving that another go too with the wider fairways. I think the elevation changes are fair if I can hit a few more fairways...but that's more my fault hahaOriginally posted by enef56 View PostHi everyone thanks for discussing Spirit Valley, any more feedback is welcome if you've played it, I have almost completed Apache Falls pics are on the hb work in progress page, I have made major changes to this course since discovering you played Spirit Valley, I have made every fairway much wider although the couple of holes with a big elevation Change I've kept, the name will change after discovering there is already an Apach Falls so I will keep you posted, I have made a falls opposite the 9th green which so far has been well received, many thanks for playing Spirit Valley. I have Vale Meadows, which although not designed for the pro tee has fairly wide fairways, also my courses under my old ps4 name Lochry Doon, should be fine Royal Auchtermuren is my favourite but if you play it try the public version it's a little tamer and if you enjoy my style of making fair but challenging courses you will like all of the above, thanks for the reply, Nigel

Just took a peek at the pictures of apache falls, looks great. Based on the pics the 10th and 13th look like they are gonna be my favorite to play through but I'll let you know what I think after I give it a go.Originally posted by enef56 View PostHi everyone thanks for discussing Spirit Valley, any more feedback is welcome if you've played it, I have almost completed Apache Falls pics are on the hb work in progress page, I have made major changes to this course since discovering you played Spirit Valley, I have made every fairway much wider although the couple of holes with a big elevation Change I've kept, the name will change after discovering there is already an Apach Falls so I will keep you posted, I have made a falls opposite the 9th green which so far has been well received, many thanks for playing Spirit Valley. Also cool way of making the falls on the one hole without being able to have running water, looks even better the further you pan away from it as well.
I know we have those great lists ks-man made for us of some of the better made courses (super appreciative), but also think more designers like yourself should pop on these forums and throw us out some courses they would like us to try as well. Love some of the designs and cool seeing the designers input on our feedback as well.
I know most of the guys make the courses for the video game side but I like playing full length courses mostly and would be happy to give my input if anyone is curious on how they play with real clubs. Thanks again

Curious when you made the updates to spirit valley? Just asking because I wonder if we have that version yet, we only get the course updates so often on the simulator side of things. May have to wait for the next update to see the changes if the updates have been published recentlyOriginally posted by enef56 View PostMany thanks for your comments I have another couple of weeks work on the course before I can publish it, and it will be under another name because there is an Apache Falls out there all ready many thanks
