Looking for quality courses around 6000 yards

Hi All,

I'm loving TGC, and I'm noticing that my swing is definitely improving. However, as a somewhat novice golfer, I'm also having a tough time finding courses that are the correct length for me to play. At the Country Club I belong to, I play from the white tees, which is what are referred to as the "men's tee's." They play 6026 yards and a slope rating of 124. The blue tees are 6301 yards and referred to as the "Championship Tee's," and even my single digit handicap friends don't play from those.

Meanwhile, most of the TGC courses seem aimed at the PGA Tour, with course lengths of over 7000 yards. Even the shorter courses end up being in the 6350-6600 yard range.

What I'm looking for in this thread are suggestions of high quality course recreations in the 6000 yard range, as it gets to be cumbersome going through the TGC menu and waiting for the course to load only to see "7071" in the yardage section.

I just created one called Via Azul Golf Club. It's 6040 yards, but a lot of the tee shots have a slight downhill slope taking a few yards off the course. I specifically built it for simulator use (wide fairways, relatively easy greens for Skytrak users). Water comes into play on several holes, but it's a very fair course overall.

Thanks for playing it! Water balls are much better lost in sim than real life, I'd say.

I'm still pretty new to course design, but I'm starting to get a hang of it and it's tons of fun. I've networked my bedroom FireTV to my sim computer in my garage, so I can design holes while laying in bed at night. Anyhow, next time I publish a course in the 6000 yard range, I'll let you know.

I played Via Azul a few times, fun course Mark, thanks for creating! If you search "6000" There's a protee course that pops up, I cant remember what its called but I played it last night and it was fun.

Anyone else have any more 6,000 yard courses you can remember?

the course being played today is listed at 6300 but many of the longer holes are down hill so plays short. Also, the protee version of sawgrass plays short as well

A little late to this thread. Here are few really good ones I've played in the 5,950 to 6,150 range:

New Stonebridge (real)
The Breakers (fictional)
Whistling Straits (real)
Glen Abbey (real)
Pine Valley (real)

Some of these might be labeled in TGC as "ProTee" or white tees. All are extremely well done and make for fun rounds. If you want to beat your head against the wall, try Riviera Country Club. I wonder if the fairways are that tight in real life? Short course within the same yardage range, but really demanding! Have fun!

I recreated an actual course for a friend of mine who lives in Ohio. The real course is called Tam O'Shanter Golf Club (Hills Course) just outside of Canton. On TGC it's called "Tammy - Hills". It's about 6300 yards, par 70, but as with some of the courses listed above there is a lot of elevation change that leads to a lot of the holes playing shorter. Might be a little longer than what you're looking for, but give it a shot and let me know what you think!

Tam O Shatner is 5 minutes from me and have played it many times, I will check it out. Are there any other local Ohio courses on TGC?

My buddy told me there are a couple holes that need elevation adjustments and also said there are more pine trees than I had put on there. If you have any other feedback let me know and I'll try and fine tune it as best I can.

Ya I included The Fortress on the list as it is completed and ready to go, however, It isn't available on the SIM until Protee does another sync, which last I heard should be end of April. But out of the other courses there, I would definitely suggest Timbers.

BadEddieKit If it was created on your sim computer, i think you can publish it and it will be available for us sim users only. At least that was my understanding.

I created Erin Hills where the U.S. Open will be played and made three versions, one of them is a 6300 yard course. I have played it a few times. I'm not a big hitter at all.
