    Help me design the ideal setup from scratch

    I've been lurking for a while on here and I finally decided to jump right in. Love what I've seen on here and I'm ready to join the fun.

    So I get to start from scratch. I will be having a contractor build a custom building in my backyard to house my simulator (think custom shed). The wife wants me to keep the building small enough that it doesn't dominate the whole yard but otherwise I'm free to design as I see fit.

    The first major question on this journey is what are the dimensions of the new space? I'm thinking 11 ft ceilings but I have no idea how wide I need to make it. I think I'm going to get a studio that I'll build once and leave in place (Par2Pro or similar). Ultimately I'm leaning GC2 or the Quad (once some reviews come in) but I don't expect this build to be done before summer so I have a little time on that front. So now the question -

    If designing from scratch, what dimensions would you recommend?

      Absolute minimum interior dimensions -

      16 feet wide x 24 feet long x 12 feet high interior. And that's not really leaving any room for guests.

          10 feet ball to screen, 7 feet ball to back for a swing and 24 leaves no room for guests? 12 foot ceiling? I'm 6'1" and I'm not sure I could hit a 12' ceiling with a driver in my hand if I jumped. 16x24 with 10-11 foot ceilings is absolutely amazing. You can have couches in the back and everything

              So it seems like 16 wide will be plenty of room based on the comments so far - thank you.

              I think I will make the length 24 feet at minimum just to make sure there is some room to entertain.

              I'm wondering what else I'm forgetting here - any suggestions for a first time guy starting from scratch?

                      If you're doing construction worry only about the size for now. 16x24 is the most you need. Your big decision will be on what technology to use.

                          Awesome - thanks. Any suggestions on technology? I'm leaning GC2 or Quad right now, but I like the skytrak too. The issue is that not everyone who will be playing is great at golf and I'm afraid of a shank taking the skytrak out.

                              I'd get the gc2 or skytrak or protee so your software options are more open. If you can stand the extra cost, I do like the gc2 better than the skytrak so far, although I don't have much time on it yet.

                                  IMO, GC2 is the best indoors but you need two if you have a left handed and right handed to be ideal. They work great. Trackman is also great. If you're spending the money on construction, get the best technology.

                                              TM4 min is 16 feet, TM3 is 18.

                                              I wouls suggest more and say 23 feet would be nice

                                                      Interesting. I'm about to embark on building a sim, and I have less than that in all three dimensions. But my floorplan still leaves room for guests.

                                                          Alright, reviving this one a bit because I'm about to meet with architects for quotes and designs. I think I've settled on 25 feet wide and 25 long with 12 foot ceilings. I am going with the GCQuad and the GS13 studio. With this setup, should I have enough room to put a couch or two behind the sim?

                                                          Anything I might be overlooking? I want to go into this with my eyes open and not miss anything.
