  • Advice on my potential setup

A bit of background, with work and young kids the practice and play time isn't where I would like it to be. None of the spaces I have are ideal and I am not in a position to renovate the house (digging out the basement 2' would be ideal). I am looking for some input but the end result may be you tell me it isn't worth the hassle given my space challenges.

I can't do a permanent setup for various reasons so the plan is a net return with a mat I can store. I know setup and takedown will be annoying but still better than the range (given I can't leave kids home alone and it's 15 minutes each way, I also am a numbers guy so would love more data). I am not fussed about hitting at a screen, a PC or tv off to the side is fine. If I get a smoking deal on a GC2 I would go that way but Skytrak is most likely where I will land.

None of my spaces have length or width issues it's all height and location problems.

Room 1, main floor has 9' ceilings but is the primary living space for the family. I am just under 6' with a pretty flat swing. I took a few careful practice swings with the driver and seem to have about 6" to spare but I need to do more testing (I also lose a couple inches when I get a mat). This would probably be my preferred location for practice/sim play because I hopefully can swing and it's inside (I do have concerns I will swing differently though). Issue here is the space is really only available at night and I worry about the noise with kids/wife trying to sleep directly above the setup.

Room 2, finished basement with 8' ceilings. Frankly it's perfect except ceiling height. Again needs more testing but feels like it's too tight to do anything except practice shots under 100 yards. This is probably the weakest part of my game so I would love to practice at home but it's a lot of money to hit pitch shots only.

"Room" 3, outside in the back yard. I can't build cover so use is weather dependent and I am in Vancouver so it rains a lot. It also isn't super flat but I could build a deck or platform to level. It only gets direct sun in the morning so I hope Skytrak would be ok for the bulk of when I would use it.

So with the above constraints should I just drop this idea or between a combination of the three locations can it be functional?

    Do you have a garage?

Garage is on the level of the basement. Has 8' ceilings and living space above it. With the location of some structural supports and garage door rails the garage is worse than the basement room.
