Ok so here we go!! I am from Indiana and have been scoping out this site for about a year now and I finally decided to make the jump. I have built a barn and have pretty much unlimited space. I have brought a BenQ HT2150ST, Country Club Elite 5x5 and went with west coast netting for a PR-20 size 18'x10'6" my plan is to make a frame and make my screen 16x9 but this is all I have so far. I have been thinking that Skytrak / TGC is a good deal but would love any help to make it the best set up as I can!! Any help on computer or systems would be much appreciated!! Can't wait to get up and running!! Thanks in advance!!

Hey Jon - welcome! Speaking as another newbie all I can say is there is literally a treasure trove of information here and an unbelievable amount of smart/experienced sim guys on here. I wish I had found this forum earlier in my build! For what it's worth, I think you have to work backwards and ask yourself a few key questions:
1) Budget?
2) Use cases - are you the only user? Lots of buddies including some lefties?
3) Goals - recreational, fun golfer or hardcore player?
4) What are your technical chops? Do you like to tinker or want to just plug and play?
I also have a (semi) dedicated barn space and went with a ProTee system and while it's still very early I'm very satisfied so far. I elected to build a full subfloor and mount the ProTee sensor in the floor. It works great and I also put in putting cups to practice outside of the SIM. TGC is a no brainer in my opinion. It's ridiculously good (with a beefy PC riding along), however you do have choices for the sim hardware/software. ProTee, SkyTrack and GC2 seem like the top 3 to me. I would suggest taking your time to read up on each system here and make an educated buying decision, really thinking about 1-4 above.
Take a look at my thread - a couple of other super users here posted links within it to their buildouts and they helped a ton.
Well after many months of research I'm happy to report that I've pulled the trigger on a ProTee system. I'm going to try and use this forum to document my
Good luck!

Hi Jon,
Welcome, I'm a newbie as well.
Have you checked out the projector data base @ http://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ...ulator-pro.htm
The BenQ 2150ST seems to be well regarded here for it's short throw installations, but I'm not sure the 2150 is ideally suited for a 16' width as the projector seems to lose a lot of screen brightness when moved back 11-13' from screen.
Hopefully, some more kowledgeble members will chime in.
I will say that I was strongly considering the 2150, but ended up going with the BenQ 3050 as it seemed better suited for my desired throw distance of ~13feet.
Here is my thread/install ... I will be posting a pic of the projector image there in a few minutes.
