Ive been searching and reading about both of these systems, and based on my budget I think I going to have to choose between these options.
I have a townhome with no extra indoor room, so this will go in the 2 car-garage. The problem is that I also have 2 cars I need to park in there, so this cant be a permanent solution. I will need something that I can pull down/out/setup quickly (quick enough so its not so cumbersome that I dont use it anymore). I'm a high handicapper since I haven't been playing more than 1-2x/year the last 10 years and the nearest range is 20 minutes away, but I think I can get to the 10-15 range with quality practice.
I do want club face angle and swing path measurements. I took some lessons a few weeks ago with a highly rated coach nearby that showed me how he uses Trackman, and the info he gathered from swing path and face angle led to quick corrections and great results. I dont need distance, I need consistency, which is why I want a sim.
I want to keep this in the $7k range all inclusive.
It seems like both of these options can accomplish this, but Im not sure which is more accurate; Im going to guess the ProTee is better in that regards, but is the Rmotion combo accurate enough?
No matter what i'll need a projector and computer.
Questions: for the ProTee, is it reasonable to move the hitting mat from storage into play area pretty easily? Or does it need to be built into a platform? I can do the platform, it will just be tougher to design to flip up and out of the way. With ST combo I figure I could just use any good hitting mat and plop the ST down as needed. Does the ProTee require some time to align everything correctly for every setup? I dont mind marking the garage floor as needed.
The top camera I can mount permanently, the side camera would need to be positioned every time. Seems like that is not a big deal.
For the sides of the bay im picturing some roll down blinds-type system, so they cal roll up and out of the way as needed. This would give me the dark background for the vertical launch cam.
Cost seems pretty similar overall, with ProTee another $1000 more if I get the putting mat.
I do want accurate club info, and the ability to practice chips/short game. I dont need putting, id rather use something else for putting practice. I do expect friends and neighbors to come over and play for fun. (btw- for TGC or other sims, can you set it to auto-putt? if so i can ignore any putting issues in the sims. I have TGC for PS4, and holy crap the putting is the worst thing ever).
So my end questions are:
1) can ProTee mat move around? I can easily mark the garage floor so it goes back to the same spot everytime. Otherwise id have to build a platform.
2) is the ST with R-motion similar in accuracy ve the ProTee w/ launch cameras?
3) which combo or gear/software gives me the least lag and most fun? Im not locked into any software... I just want some variety of courses and range work. Lag would really annoy me.
