First off, I have started my simulator with the optishot2 and it is fun, but not what I am looking for long term. I have a large basement reno upcoming and want to integrate a golf simulator into the remodel. The problem I have with the optishot isn't so much in the game play as in the fact that I have to calibrate the club and tape off all of my clubs before playing which is annoying and not very fun for visitors. For the price, I can't really complain though.
I know very little about these things, but I would like to go with a refurbished GC2 and HMT if possible. I already have a computer, projector, and real astro turf to hit off of and am fully capable of building a frame from angle iron for the impact screen, so I believe all I really need is a touchscreen monitor and the GC2/HMT. I read a lot about the FSX software and see some things about other simulation softwares that possibly work with the GC2, but I am getting mixed information on the forums. I really would like to stay under $12K for the total budget on the system, can someone help me out with some thoughts on my build and let me know potential pitfalls? Here is what I am planning.
GC2 refurbished - $5,200
HMT refurbished - $4,900
Turf - Already Have
Angle Iron - Already Have
Computer & Projector - Already Have
Touch Screen Monitor - $500
Net Return Impact Screen & Net - $1,295
Software package for simulation - (Budgeted $1,000 Left, not sure which direction to go here)
Any thoughts on better ideas is really appreciated. I should add that I am a GHIN 15 handicap golfer, with the ability to shoot under par on days where my swing is consistent, but I am wildly unpredictable from day to day. One day hook, one day slice, another day perfect baby draw. No earthly idea what I do differently and am looking for unit to help me improve skills and repeatability with swing path, eventual goal to play even most days on a typical city course. I don't get to play much more that once a week for a few months out of the year (4 kids under the age of 5) so I am hoping this will allow me the ability to play 4 or 5 holes at night a few times a week as well as have friends over for the typical beverage and golf outing in the winter.
Thanks,
