  • starting a business. suggestions/help please

im starting a business and im thinking of using either the gchawks or trackman. some people have doubts about using trackman for indoor business, but here is a good example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt2Skz0pUEM

anyways im not 100 percent sure about anything yet. if i rely on the gchawk and they delay it even more then that wont even be an option.

if anyone has experience running businesses or goes to simulators and has any advice id greatly appreciate it, as im still figuring out what all needs to be done.

A very tough business for sure.

You don't specify what type of business you are contemplating. The video shows what appears to be a training facility, which is definitely not the same as a golf sim business.

I'd be leery of using the Trackman as the basis for a golf sim business. I'm not sure that it's a serve yourself / intuitive device.

You also don't say where your business would be located. Geography is pretty important. That Trackman clip is from Denmark where there is a completely different golf culture compared to North America.

Fill in some blanks and you'll get better responses.

Yes food and drinks. I want the most accurate realistic golf sim available and from the research ive done its either the trackman or gc products. Other than trackman being on the floor why dont people use it more? It seems like the best option.

locationis canada. 6to8 months winters here.

This is the best study I’ve found comparing Trackman and GC2. See chapter 4.

You might find the results interesting.

Thanks for that. Its hard to find businesses that use trackman and most people just shit on the idea, but if most pga golfers use it than i dont understand the hate other than its on the floor.

have you been to any other simulator places and how do they compare?

              thanks again!

Hey basic shoot me a message and I'd be happy to discuss. Where are you thinking of locating the business?

                Cheers,

The biggest issue I see is that the cost for TM can be very prohibitive - both for the upfront cost and the (required) yearly subscription fees. Not nearly as much of an issue for the PGA pros as it is for someone trying to make money in a sim business. Even a lot of instructors choose Flightscope over Trackman for that same reason.

For home (instead of commercial use), the radar units are also not as popular due to the need for more space (18' to 20' from the unit to the screen tends to be the minimum).

Also, it's only recently with Trackman 4 (and Flightscope X3) that the radar units started supported putting and chipping in the sims.
