  • 1 Golf Ball on 4 Launch Monitors at the same time

After seeing some data on the FlightScope Mevo+ and suspect spin numbers I thought I would compare the Xi Tour vs a GC2 and see for myself how the data compares. And then I thought why not go overboard and compare two GC2's and 2 FlightScopes at the same time.

One GC2 has an 11,xxx serial and the other is less than a year old with a 13,xxx serial. For this test they were set up facing each other, the GC2 noted as Aligned in the data has been aligned to the target line as best as I could. The GC2 set up for left handed players wasn't as carefully aligned. Carry numbers are calculated from FSX using the default range settings.

I used an older FlightScope X2 that was set-up on the target line, 8 feet behind the hitting area. The late model Xi tour was set-up offset of the target line hence the wonky horizontal launch angle numbers. I just wanted to confirm the spin, vertical launch and ball speed numbers with this unit. The 2 FlightScopes are on different frequencies so they don't interfere with each other. They were in short-indoor mode with 8 feet to screen. I used two metallic dots on a new ProV1. The carry numbers are calculated using the VX app with default range settings.

Because I had to hit over the GC2 set up for left handed play I only hit punch shots using a wedge. I hit 10 shots, on one shot the X2 backspin data was italicized meaning it was calculated so I omitted that shot from the data.

As I expected the ball speed, launch angle, and backspin data is accurate on the FlightScope and the GC2. FlightScope really struggles capturing spin axis indoors as seen in the data I captured below.

Thanks for your test. I really wanted to see Xi series vs GC2/GCQ/TM4. If you can I would want to see Xi Tour vs GC2 in various clubs (6 or 7 iron, driver, etc.). Hope you can still have access to do that. I think X2 or Xi Tour are still great in a sense that those machines give you Speed and Acceleration Profile which Trackman or Foresight don't have.

All in all for this wedge shot, I think it is impressive for Xi Tour giving nearly identical ball speed/launch angle and backspin. I can imagine that outdoor it'll be just as identical as Trackman or if not even better than GC2.

Thanks for testing and sharing your results grant. Spin axis is certainly a problem. What was your total distance and distance to screen?
