  • GC2 vs Uneekor

I am ready to upgrade from SkyTrak and trying to decide between GC2 or Uneekor. Can any of you who have had both or used both give me your opinion and or pros and cons of each. I use the range more than simulator. I currently have a lifetime subscription to TGC 2019 which I plan on transferring to which ever monitor I go with. My son uses the sim golf more with his high school teammates. I dont really care about right and left hand, everyone we play with is right handed. My room is 16' wide and 24' deep with 9'8" ceilings. I hit off of a quattro mat into a 13' wide carls enclosure.

I have not had both. I chose Uneekor and I had a couple of reasons. I had read that many people pulled shots left because of a floor unit. I prefer the ceiling mount as some of the shots I have seen would have killed a floor unit.

Secondly I have read that gc2 struggles a bit with putting. I would say the putting on Uneekor is spot on. If you miss it, it was because of you.

But with you not that interested in Sim golf and having already had a skytrack it may not matter for you. Data seems comparable.

One last thing, Uneekor is newer and they are still upgrading. They also have camera integration for watching your swing if that might matter for you.

If lefty/righty isn’t an issue then you can’t go wrong with GC2. I used to have SkyTrak and always had No reads and misreads. I’ve had GC2 for 3.5 years and have never had a no read or misread. It’s proven technology that just works. I’ve heard good reviews about Uneekor. That will give you both lefty/righty but you have to use special marked balls. I like having a GC2 where I throw any ball down and it just works. I also like having the ball measurements directly displayed on the GC2 after you hit as compared to having to wait and look at the shot analysis screen in software. Previous statement above said GC2 doesn’t read putts well. That’s not the case. It’s probably the best hardware out there that reads putts. It’s camera based and close to the ball so reads them very accurately. Uneekor is also camera based but further away from ball and needs special black dots marked on ball. Radar systems cannot read putts very well. I don’t think you will go wrong with either of these two choices. Both are compatible with TGC and that is by far the best sim software out there in my opinion.

Another user who has not used Uneekor. I think GC2 is a solid choice, but for me having kids with something on the floor in the middle of the room was just asking for trouble. This was the only issue that made me make a decision away from going with Foresight (well and also at the time I was looking at only fsx as the possible software alternative (amazing what happened a week later with the E6 announcement).

in terms of putting they are all pretty good. I would suggest looking at @LeoModes testing on putting so that you can know the differences based on testing done by a member of this group.

I have had both. Skytrak-GC2-UNEEKOR-QUAD. Either one is obviously a major improvement, and you won't be sorry with either. The GC2 is solid, but definitely draw biased, at least mine was. Wedge shots would ,90% of the time, draw, and usually by a large amount. Its not a huge deal, as long as you understand it won't happen irl. You won't get a lot of misreads or no reads, maybe 1 per 500. Not a big deal. The uneekor does not have a bias, left or right. There is nothing on the floor which is nice if you have a putting area. It has no delay with TGC. If you are into the range, seeing your club through impact is huge, i wouldn't trust all of the club readings, but the ball numbers are spot on, and i have tested it against the quad. IMO the putting is equal. The uneekor has more no read misread, but usually because you blocked the cameras. I would say maybe 1 out of 250 shots. The balls and lack of portability are the major drawback. The balls will spin roughly 2000 rpm less on wedge shots, if you play premium balls. This is a problem in playing TGC with the concrete greens. Also there is a noticeable clicky hard feel vs a premium ball. I play forged clubs for the feel, and lose some of that. The easy compatibility with E6 and TGC, is really nice, and if you have a problem, you call the head IT Tech(Austin) on his cell phone. And he always answers. No one can compare in customer service. Their head software designer in Korea logged into my system at 7:00 am, while he was eating breakfast, when Austin couldn't figure out a problem in my initial install, UNREAL! You can run the ignite software and TGC at the same time and your shot info is instant, along with your club video thru impact, and front and rear swing playback, if you add two $50.00 cameras. It's almost too much information. My choice would be UNEEKOR. In my opinion you should be comparing QUAD vs Uneekor, but a know the price point of GC2 is appealing. I could go on, but that should be enough to chew on.

Thanks, your review is what convinced me to buy. I don't regret it at all, I should keep both but divorce is too expensive.

I had the GC2/HMT and if it hadn't been for me thinking I was going to have to switch over to left-handed play I would most likely still have them. That being said once I got the Uneekor I found I like it better than what I did the GC2/HMT it is up out of the way and I do not worry about anyone shanking a ball into it, and as for my use I can not see any major difference in accuracy. I don't recall having many missed shots with the GC2 and as long as you don't get in front of the cameras you shouldn't have any with the Uneekor. If you are only going to use it indoors then I would recommend the Uneekor, best service of any of the systems I have owned and as I said you don't have to worry about it getting hit due to a wild shot. I did worry about my GC2/HMT when the grandsons or grandnephew were playing, teens will be teens. Or if you want to use it outside then the GC2 is the choice.
