  • SkyTrak vs GC2 - Lag?

I want to be sure I don't end up with lag from when the ball is hit until it registers on the screen. Do I need to get a GC2 to make sure this doesn't happen? All of the videos I watch when people are using SkyTrak it seems like there is lag.

Need to pull the trigger on this purchase ASAP.

GC2 shot to show is immediate. Skytrack shot to show is 2-3 seconds. Obviously the GC2 is way better.

Bubba is right. I own a ST. It has a 3 second delay. I thought it never bothered me, but I recently purchased a Mevo+ and it has no delay. I now really notice the delay in my ST. I don’t like looking up waiting to see if the ball direction is what the shot felt like. I don’t own a GC2 but have used one and they are a very nice LM. Better then a ST for sure and I’m not trashing ST as they do a very nice job for the cost but there is a price gap for a reason.

How would you say your Mevo+ compares with a GC2?

I don’t have a GC2 so I can’t give you a true comparison. My Mevo+ was faulty when first purchased. FS repaired it and I’m getting it back today so will be testing on Saturday. I will say it works outdoors extremely well.

Curious how does the CG2 com are to Uneekor QED from a sim performance perspective?

I had a Skytrak for very short time (5 days) and had to send it back because of sale issues - but will definitely be replacing it with the GC2 just given what I have read on here and seeing the delay first hand. It is totally fine as noted for iPad/secondary display play - but I haven't even experienced it in a SIM environment but agree it would get old very fast.

I am curious on mis-reads. My kids hit a few balls on the Skytrak and when they skulled it or topped it, it never would read it - it was actually kind of frustrating. I got this for myself, but is great that the kids were enjoying it - will the GC2 be better in that regard? I know the GC2 has way less no-reads but will it still struggle with really new golfers who are barely making contact? Even a skulled 5 iron for a 8 year old going 60 yards is fun for them, so hoping it will be better!

GC2 catches almost every shot, not matter how bad it is.

If money isn't an issue, you'll be happier with the GC2 as it's a better product and more accurate monitor.

My skytrak pics up topped and skulled shots with no problem. I have a small platform built for it that keeps it at the exact height as my hitting mat. I have hit just under 5000 shots on the Skytrak driving range and played at least 40 rounds of golf since January. I can't remember a no read with an iron shot. I have had some no reads with my driver though, but I would say that most of those are due to the color of Birtee that I was using. Since going to red the no reads are almost eliminated.

Also. The shot delay is good in a way. You can keep your head down longer and not miss the flight unlike real golf.

I can not comment on the gc2, no experience with that.

I did end up going with the GC2 since I had to return my SkyTrak anyways, so I figured I would go for it and not look back. I have had the GC2 not pick up a few shots as well, mostly from my kids but a highly lofted lob wedge sometimes doesn't pick up. It is way less than the SkyTrak though.

As for the delay, the GC2 is not 'instant', there is a little lag but it's barely noticeable, sometimes it can be about a full second, but I assume that is the CPU. I only played SkyTrack with an iPad and with that it was not bad since you had to look over to the iPad anyways. It was somewhere between 3-5 seconds and I don't think I would have enjoyed that as much in a SIM environment, which I have with the GC2.

In my experience any delays in shot to show with TGC and a GC2 are due to Bluetooth. People use an extension and put the dongle close and have no issues.
