  • Simulator Tip

Been following and checking this forum out for a while but first post. Thanks for all the info and tips everyone!

Simulator setup is 90% complete ... like many have said not sure I will ever stop tweaking it! But wanted to share one of the coolest things I did and only cost about 35 bucks. You can see the microphone on the wall to the right. That plus the voice attack software allows me to use my voice to make keyboard commands while playing sim golf. So I can say aim three right rather than going back to the keyboard and monkeying around. You can program any keystroke or combination of keystrokes. Has worked really great!

Yeah, I use VoiceBot the same way. How you been doing with other people barking commands for some reason it only listens well to me

Pretty well surprisingly. Only really have an issue if I have music on or the TV. Looks like you and I are probably pretty close to each other I’m in Wheaton.

Wow that’s crazy. Yeah I’m dealing with a sprained finger and elbow myself. Golf is hard haha.

Holtzeeeeee what kind of mic did you use and what price range? I just setup voice attack using a mic built into the monitor. Works pretty good, but have to speak loudly. I have another mic coming that is designed more for speech recognition ($35), but I was thinking of getting a shotgun/unidirectional mic to focus the area on the hitter and block out other voices.

Probably a dumb question, as I do not have a sim yet. Can you just aim left or right on the screen without moving the projected image? Or do you need to move it, and hit everything straight on?

You should hit perpendicular (straight) into the screen. If that cannot be the center of the screen due to a narrow room width, you don't move the projected image, but rather adjust the offset of the centerline in the software app you're using (SkyTrak range, TGC 2019, E6 Connect, etc.).

Basically, you'll just use an arrow key on the keyboard to adjust your aiming point on the screen. That point then becomes your new "straight." But your real life straight point remains the same spot on the screen. So whether I'm aiming for the left side of the fairway or the right side of the fairway, the ball is always smacking the same spot on my screen.

That said, if you do aim left or right - the ball will go there. I generally center up my aim but for small corrections I just aim a bit left. Works just fine with the Quad, though it may introduce errors on other systems - I am not certain.

Correct. Just like a push or pull will send the ball in that direction. Basically, the launch monitor uses a perpendicular line to the screen which is its definition of "straight." So anything hit not on that line --- intentionally or unintentionally --- will go in that direction. And if you want to shape a shot, you'll use that imaginary straight line as your reference point to then shape one off that line.

Okay makes sense, might just make the ball or club data off a bit depending on the LM if I understand correctly. Thank you.
