  • What premium balls is everyone using?

I was wondering what are the most used balls in the sim world. I personally like the TP5 but now I tend to favor the Kirkland ball. We are testing different balls for dimple recognition... Seems that some balls are easier to find patterns that others. Our algorithm will search for markings and a dimple pattern. It seems that the TP5 will be quite easy to read a dimple pattern whereas, the Kirkland may be more difficult. The answer might be increasing the FPS so that the difference is miniscule. Some feedback to what you are using would be helpful.... We want to be testing a variety of balls.

We all play the ball we play on the course. Pro V1x and TP5x for me. I buy a dozen of the practice balls on the Pro V1x from Golf Galaxy for half the price. Figured you have between $10k to 20k into this, why not keep it legit with the ball you normally play.

Hard to beat the Maxfli Tour and Tour X, cast urethane 3 or 4 piece ball for the price typically on sale for 2 dozen for $50 or $55

Sirixon Z Star XV - the cover lasts a long time in the SIM! And, I do enjoy playing them on the course too! Pro V1x's as well but they do not last nearly as long! And, cost about double what I pay for Srixon balls!

I actually bought a box of Callaway Chrome Soft X yesterday thinking the 3 lines on the ball might be great for Skytrak use. But funny enough, the Skytrak actually seemed to have a harder time picking it up when I faced the lines at the camera as opposed to just using the logo as usual.

(I rarely get to play outside anymore so that part of it was of no concern).

I use TP5 pix balls for the ease of having lots of logos to face the camera.

TP5's seem to have a very distinct pattern.... those markings should help....I like the TP5 for their durability..

I am actually doing some testing at the moment. I am comparing Chrome soft, Prov1, Peov1x, Kirkland, and z-star. At the moment the z-star is being up the rear in terms of how the cover looks after many hits, but it is marginal at best. The next worsts is the Kirkland and the Chrome Soft and Prov’s are about equal. The difference as noted is marginal, but from a quality perspective I am happy with them all. My next testing will be spin etc for my game, but am doing this type of testing now as I am working about on my swing at the moment.
