I think I’ve decided on going with the GC2 rather than ProTee. I think it will work best with my room mainly due to the easier install (not needing the lights and extra cameras) and also to more easily allow for my son who is a lefty to continue to use the system as he grows (I’m limited in the width of the room). I’m now debating on the software to get to go along with it and have been reading a ton of posts around here. It sounds like most people around these forums feel very strongly that ProTee 2.0/TGC is much better than FSX but I’m wondering specifically why. Much of what I read is 6-12 months old before I believe FSX was fully launched. I’m wondering how the two stack up against each other head-to-head. Clearly TGC has significantly more courses but outside of that is there another reason that FSX falls way short?
I had a conversation with someone from P2P and for the sake of the conversation we assumed that there was no risk of losing TGC compatibility with the GC2. His opinion was that the FSX is more “performance” level software when paired with the GC2 and will be the best for improving my game and 2.0/TGC was more for the “entertainment experience” giving me access to thousands of courses and name courses like Pebble, St Andrews, etc. Both seem to have online play (I’m guessing TGC has far more players), both have 4k support (probably won’t matter for my room). While clearly not as extensive as TGC, FSX does now seem to offer a good amount of courses albeit at a high cost per course. I don’t know exactly how many courses I would feel I’d need. The graphics look pretty good though it is hard to do a true comparison simply via online pictures.
So what are people’s opinions around here? Coming towards the end of 2015 is ProTee/TGC software still far better than FSX? If so what are the main reasons for feeling that way? I really wish I could try out both but don’t know anyplace nearby that offers either setup. Thanks for the help.
