Hi everyone, I wanted to share an app that I've been working on recently. I never intended to release this publicly, but I feel like it turned out pretty well and was worth sharing.
You can get the latest release here:
I have only tested on Windows with my launch monitor, but it is built for Mac and Linux as well (untested, so no guarantees....). I am a golf addict and engineer, not a software developer--this app is mostly vibecoded... I think it's reasonably polished but could use more testing to refine.
I like to use the rēlā connector to grab data from my launch monitor, which can be downloaded here. It can be used with a growing list of launch monitors (huge shoutout to the connector's creator, eKiSLe):
I built this because outside of Trackman, I have not been happy with how any of the simulator software packages handle the ability to compare club specs or ball data. I'm also tired of all the asinine subscriptions costs out there. I'm a club tinkerer who likes to play with lead tape and different club head settings to dial things in. The Fitting Bay allows you to build a bag and document all club specs (shaft type, weight, swing weight, playing length, etc.). These specs are all optional--you don't have to enter anything--but they are there if you want to be that granular.
There is a Range tab where you can select which club and ball setup you're hitting, and the Fitting tab offers a few ways to visualize your data, including a bag mapping, trajectory chart, and dispersion chart. Each chart can be separated by ball type if you choose. If you want to export it all to CSV or a PDF report, this can be done in the Shot Log tab.
I also added a few games at the end, but these are admittedly not the focus of the app. Have a look! The most useful one to me is speed training--no distractions, only ball speed.
I'm working to improve the shot tracer, but the underlying physics model should be reasonable (even if the tracer looks a little wonky). I will continue to improve both when time allows. I have some additional themes that I'll also try to add eventually when I iron out the tracer.
If you want to just explore the app without hitting any shots, there is a setting in the menu that allows you to toggle a "log shot" button that will allow you to submit a synthetic shot to the program. You can change clubs and balls and use the synthetic shot button to give The Fitting Bay a test drive!
There is a feature request and bug report button in the app that you are free to use, though no guarantees I can fix everything
. There is a also a 'Join our Discord' button in the app as well if you'd like to continue the conversation over there and shape what this app ends up looking like.
Let me know what you think, and thanks for looking!
