  • Simulator Layout Help / First Post!

    Hi All!

I've been reading loads of old topics & really appreciate everyones knowledge. You guys know your stuff!

My wife and I are building a home & my interest in a simulator has really spiked lately. Living in Michigan, we have quite a few months out of the year sitting inside, watching snow fall & dreaming of swing the sticks.

Anyhow, I've attached the proposed simulator room (below). I can't really adjust the room dimensions at all, as we're breaking ground soon & moving load bearing walls would make my wife very upset as it would impact the layout of the rest of the home.

I am thinking of purchasing the new ES16 when it releases & if it's all it's cracked up to be.
I'm right handed. Nothing has been purchased for this setup yet.

My main goals are to hit the simulated range in the morning prior to work, work on my swing, have friends over for beers & rounds of golf.

Overall room dimensions are aprox 12 wide, 25 deep, and 9ft 8in tall in the hitting area.

    I have a few questions.

    1) Does this layout look reasonable?
    2) Where would you position the projector?
    3) How would you set up the matt area? (Multiple mats? Are there companies that sell large mats?)
    4) Would you center the mat?
    5) Where would you position the computer system?
    6) How much distance from the wall would you position the impact screen?

If you see anything else that doesn't seem to make sense, please let me know! I'm very anxious for advice & will take no offense!

    Thanks so much guys!

    Paul

I think you'll need to offset the ball position because 6'2" is pretty tight.

cool setup but I think Godfather is correct. I have 9 feet on each side (18 total) and it feels just big enough for a driver...

        1. layout looks reasonable but the space on the sides may lead you to offsetting the setup.
        2. go to projectorcentral (dot com) to figure out the space. If you want to avoid shadows use a Short Throw projector BenQ1080ST or Optoma EH200ST
        3. I would setup a putting green material in the sim so you can put when you are waiting between shots during online play (if ADD kicks in) then cut a space for the hitting mat to be in.
        4. I would offset the mat because 6 ft is tight for a driver.
        5. Computer system setup should be slightly back behind the ball (shank proof)
        6. I left 2 feet but I hear you can get away with 1-1.5 ft. you may want to put a net and maybe a blanket behind the impact screen to reduce the possibility of hitting the back wall.

Good luck and welcome! I am excited to see the ES16 as well... lets hope it is all that we want it to be.

Thanks guys.. I just measured 6'2" from a wall & held a driver.. Yea, WAY too close. I measured out to 8 feet & feel pretty comfortable swinging from that distance. Still leaves about 4 feet in front of the golfer as well for some breathing room.

Love the putting green idea, with all the extra space that the offset creates it will work well to incorporate a putting green there.

          Really great suggestions, guys!
