I HATE THIS SITE! (in a good way)

The reason i say that is this site is costing me some coin! Been reading all these post for the last couple weeks and decided to try and do a budget sim in my garage..Thank god my family and i are vertically challanged cuz i only have 8'4" to the lid. Not my problem if my friends cant use their woods, lol. Here is what Ive ordered to start with.. Skytrak with WGT (i know, gonna get TGC just not yet) HQ impact screen (par2pro, raw), Benq projector, CCE mat, netting. Most everything comes today just not sure how long the skytrak take to be delivered (purchased from par2pro) but once everything gets here im sure i will have a ton of questions. Hopefully everyone (in the know) about this stuff will help me out with my set up.

You've bought at a good time, where the unit and software sit now, it's in a pretty good state. No growing pains for you, just some sore joints from all the time you'll spend using it.

Well my CCE mat came in yesterday. My skytrak should be here monday. I set up my projector, netting and side curtains. Not sure when my screen will ship. I just put up a painting tarp for the time being to try to get the projector set in the right place. I think i will have to adjust it a little more but gonna wait until i get the skytrak. I wonder how long i will be able to hold out on gettting TGC.

I'd say less than a week for tgc. Then you'll wonder why you waited so long.

I built my computer for about $1,200 and that's with a nvidia 970. I'm getting 1080p at 80+ FPS, so I can imagine you can go for the cheaper 960 and still get 60 FPS on 1080p which is great graphics). Also, since the the new nvidia 1080 is out, i'm sure all the GPUs under it have decreased in price.

I purchased a 6th gen i5 processor which was around $350 and it seems to be more than enough if you're only using TGC and a couple of other applications at the same time. You could save more and go down to a 4th or 5th generation i5 processor.

With all that, I'm sure you could build a computer for less than $800-900. Get after it! You'll never regret it.

                Good luck!

Hey Jbryant, what are your graphics settings at in TGC? I assume they're not maxed out with 80 fps and a 970. I was thinking about upgrading to the 1070 once they Nvidia partners release their versions. I think that would handle everything TGC can throw at it on high detail, from the reviews I've read on the cards.

I select the high graphics setting when selecting resolution before starting the game. Then I use the recommended in-game settings listed on this site that were provided directly by ProTee. They said the in-game settings weren't really made to be maxed out as it doesn't make too much of a difference.

If you're only running 720p, my budget setup works great with only a GTX 750 ti.

                - HP ProDesk computer i5 4690s $275 refurb from microcenter. Found same on eBay at times for even less. The key is the power supply in the bigger case. I liked the 4690s as the s version is lower power.

                - GTX 750 ti $85-110 from Amazon, Newegg, or eBay. My ProDesk had an even bigger power supply than specs said so I could've done a GTX 960 (if my projector was 1080p I'm guessing I probably would)

My projector is 1080p so i think i have narrowed it down to this...i5/6600, 980ti, 1080 or 1070 card, windows 10, 750w power supply, 16gb ram, 250ssd, 2tb HD, msi z107a mother board, cpu cooler and tower..anything else? like bluetooth/network card crap, sound card? My router is super close to where the tower so i just ethernet it with a cable? then run hdmi from tower to projector?

Yes to Ethernet cable (so no need for wifi card) and yes to HDMI.

Nope, no secret here, pretty much place all my shots on the laser dot. I'd contact skytrak, that doesn't sound right. I'm sure they'll ask about the basic stuff, latest software, clean new balls, logo facing unit?

If the laser disappears after hitting, then you need to connect to your PC through Wifi instead of USB. If the laser never disappears, it means the camera isn't capturing the ball. That likely be a hardware issue and need repair.

Post a few pics of how you have it set up when you get a chance, take one level to the ground too if you can, will maybe help us get a idea of what to tell you to try
