Garage Simulator Build - Overview

Hello all,

I am looking to build a golf simulator in my garage and have spent the past two weeks researching. I feel like I have read every thread on this board. I would like to provide the details and see if anyone has feedback on my potential build.

1) Simulator - Protee basic at $2995 from par2pro with TGC software (excited about joining the tour that I have read about)
2) Enclosure and Net - Superbay from allsportssystems.com 14 foot wide - Will build at 13x10 - $499
3) Impact screen - 13x9.5. Deciding between HQ2 Custom at $1039 or the Double Sided Impact screen from protee/swingsense for $799. Any recommendations?
4) Turf - Padded Turf from par2pro and will build a base with 2x3 and have protee sensor sit down in build in - $825 for turf

6) Projector - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpa...=960&keys=keys - $674 - Will be mounted at 8' 5'' from impact screen. I will be setup 9' from impact screen.

*Overall I have a 13' wide area with some depth before I start running into the rails for the garage doors. My sons are both golf left handed and I am right handed, so I will have a 1' offset, I realize this isn't ideal but it's what I have to work with.


Questions - Which impact screen would be best suited? Is the HQ2 worth the extra money vs. the double sided impact screen from protee/swingsense. Any other advice?

I do not see a mat to hit off of. I have this one and like it a lot. It takes real tees.

I do not have a projector or impact screen yet but looking at this.

For computer I like your choice. I went with an ASUS - but a non laptop model. It is good.

Welcome Todd. We'd love to have you on the tour. My only recommendation is look at your PC. That's kind of the low end of the necessary for TGC. Laptops are not as strong as PC's. It's been discussed here and will work but not likely at full graphics. As for the screens, not too many people have been unhappy with either screen. Read the posts and decide what matters to you. The most important thing is support the screen from behind. It helps a lot.

Thanks for the advice. Even if the laptop meets all of the recommended specs with the 960 graphic card it will still struggle?

Lots of people are using the laptop. The 970 laptop card is not the same as the 970 PC card. If you look in the PC section, you'll see other discussions. It'll help you determine what to do.
