  • Ready to start building my Simulator !!!- Please help and advise

I have been on and off this site for a few months and am finally getting serious about turning a large room into an indoor simulator.

I already own a Skytrak w/ WGT, but am thinking of upgrading to GC2+TGC or FSX. I have a Net Return, but am leaning towards an impact screen that I can add a projector to. Has anyone compared Skytrak+TGC to GC2+TGC ? Is it worth the upgrade ?? Or should I put that money into Boditrak ?

Is it crazy to try to setup a system like Golftec- cameras for DTL and Face On Views? Room is only 13' wide so not sure if I can find a wide view camera for Face On.

    Need advice on:
    Computer Specs
    Projector Specs
    Best Impact Screen
Framing for Impact Screen and Netting- The room gets a lot of light

What else am I missing ? Trying to keep budget to 12,000. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Shop our affordable golf simulators and enclosures, golf projector impact screens, and complete golf packages.

I would go with a complete one stop solution. The link above is one I am considering...it is the cheapest. About 8,000 with everything -

Golf simulator guys also have a nice studio for skytrak - they are the most expensive about 10,000 or so

    Par2pro somewhere between the two.

GC2 advantages over skytrak. Larger FOV, shorter shot to show time in TGC, ability to add HMT, more accurate in terms of stated tolerances on readings, on board display. Only you can answer whether these are worth an additional 4k+. Don't think anyone has been disappointed with a GC2.

See computer section on here for specs.
For projector alot of people use Benq1085st, Optoma GT1080 and are happy with them. Visit projectorcentral to see what fits your needs.
Impact screen, par2pro HQ, protee dual side screen, supertex screen. You can find reviews of all here.
Framing-build your own, way cheaper and easy to put together, Just buy canopy fittings online and get emt at your local hardware store.

KH - If you're willing to hunt for deals on the screen, PC, netting, etc, I'm pretty sure you can still stay around your $12K mark - even with the GC2.

Next week I'm going to order a screen and netting from Par2Pro. Once installed I will get the projector next. Does anyone know if I buy TGC to work with Skytrak and chose later to buy a GC2 can I use the same license ?

You can transfer it to anther PC. You can even sell it. Once you get the new PC send ProTee the new machine ID and they'll give you a ne license code.
