  • My backyard....golf course

My backyard has been an on-going project since I purchased my house 3 years ago. I am a long time member of another board from back in my poker playing days and the entire saga is documented in a thread there. It is far too much to replicate, but I will add any updates here as well going forward.

Take a peak if you dare. This link is the beginning of the golf cycle, but if you get bored and want to go backwards from there you can see some fairly fun progress to get to that point...

    Enjoy! (?)

Here is a quick video. Looks really good at night. Still fairly washed out during high sun, but I still have a little work to do on the cage...

Added a cable box and the situation has been optimized a bit...

This is the brightest time of day. I have everything ready, including additional black tarps to enclose it fully and block out all light / rain, but I'll save that for a cooler day. It is plenty usable in this lighting and I'm usually at work this time of day anyway...

Here is a pull out view that shows the additional framing I have added for the winter door. Extended 5 feet which will allow me to drop a tarp straight down without the need to move my mat forward in the cage. Will still be able to full swing from anywhere on the mat. I also have a 6'x20' to go over the extended area.

Going to rig it on pulleys so I can pull either/both open/closed and the extra pole gives a great mounting spot for the round recording cam.

Thinman that looks great. Couple of questions. Where did you get the tarp and how do you have the cage anchored?

              Thanks.

              Tarp is a
POLYESTER CANVAS TARP, WATER PROOF 14.5 OZ. from http://www.canopiesandtarps.com/poly...vas-tarps.html. Really happy with the quality of these tarps.

Cage is not anchored yet. Under the cage is 4-6" of compacted base rock that I put in for the SynLawn. I have some spiral anchors that I tried to install, but lol, that isn't happening. I am either just going to pound in some rebar with a hook at the top, or I will just dig and pour a simple footing with an strong tie anchor in it to secure a strap to.

My wind is minimal here and the cage is actually sheltered on three side from heavy gusts, so I'm not super worried about it.

Very cool setup. That Synlawn 354 kind of resembles a fiberbuilt insert. How tall is it?

Thanks! I've been looking at the fiberbuilt and am actually pretty close to ordering one. From the pics and videos I have seen, the 354 is no where close as dense. It does sit very close to as high has the CCE mat I have, but that is in appearance only. Once you toss a ball down, it sinks a little bit. It is more like a short first cut rough. Plus, it has no padding.

Trying to decide between a full fiberbuilt or cutting into my CCE which I'd really rather not do. I'll probably just order the insert first and see if it stays put between the CCE and the Synlawn to start with.

Also wish it the inserts where larger then 12x12". Skytrak butted up to CCE puts the laser right at about 12.5" which is a fairly comfortable distance from the edge of the mat.

Haven't posted a pic in a while so thought I would update. Plus, taking on 50+ mph gusts right now. So far no issues...
