You got to hand it to the Foresight marketing department. Come out with a new smaller, same price GC2 but market it as a "Tee Marker". Then try to convince people that they need two of these babies because real tee boxes have two tee markers...this will easily double the revenue....Brilliant!

Also, the FSX with 4K resolution is way ahead of its time. For those with bottomless pockets, they will just need a computer with 4 physical CPUs, 1 terabyte of ram, and 4 GTX 990 in a quad SLI.

Even with a 4K capable projector, how are you going to display 4K resolution on an impact screen? Most people can barely tell the difference between 720 and 1080 on an impact screen.

It could look great on a quality theater screen, but they're not made to handle golf balls.

The best impact screen is the HQ from Par2pro, but that's still an impact screen. You would still loose a lot of the detail resolution, especially from <10 ft away.

Yeah, so theoretically, how much further do you think resolution could advance on an impact screen?

I'm no expert on the manufacturing process of an impact screen. But I can tell you for sure that I'm not getting all of my 1080 with my Protee screen, which is a very good screen. The HQ is slightly better(brighter), and from what I've seen, you still lose some.

Btw, 4K is not 4 times HD. The 4K is the 4096 horizontal resolution. HD has 1920 horizontal resolution. So, 4K is double that of HD(1080).

Not quite true. 4k has double the vertical resolution and double the horizontal resolution. Which means it has 4 times the pixels.

You're absolutely right about the pixels. But when referring to video, its always been referred to by its vertical resolution. NTSC was 480i, DVD was 480p, HD broadcasts were either 720p or 1080i. Now we have BD, which are labeled 1080p. TV's have been 1080p HD for a while now.

The latest now is 4K TV. If you follow the previous ways TVs resolutions have been referred to, shouldn't these TV's be called 2K TVs? 4K sounds better though.

I wasnt all that excited about 4k when i saw the tvs at bestbuy, theyre nice but not a huge difference compared to good quality hdtv.. Then my buddy got a Sony 4k projector and WOW .. The picture on a 10ft screen is just incredible, 1080p look like 480p in comparison .. Thats on a homemade screen ( its diy but very capable) and on 1080p blueray disk.. The projector does a great job converting the video to 4k but a real 4k input should even be better.. We switched back to his 1080p projector and it was night and day, and he paid almost $3k for that projector not too long ago..

Im not sure how much the simulator screen affect the picture but believe me the difference will be bigger than you think going 1080 to 4k.. My buddy paid around $9k for the projector which i think is a good deal for people that can afford it.. Unfortunately that aint me..

Even the best impact screen will not show as much detail as compared to a home theater screen. Looking at the PC requirements for Foresight's FSX software, I doubt it will take advantage of 4K. Protee will run at 4K if your display can show it.

Last year similar projector would cost you $35k and now its $9k i told him it will probably be half that by years end and to just wait... he said if he wait he will spend the $9k on something else .. Money management 101 lol
