Need to keep searching. Between the potential Idaho Elk/Deer combo hunt research and the SIM it's a wonder that I'm still able to function. I go to bed with all of this on my mind. Then I golf all day and start over again. I know, it's tough!

Mekongmike I noticed in earlier thread you mentioned getting a WiFi extender. In our last house I tried one of these. It used our WiFi name plus a dash or hyphen (I can’t remember which one) in its name. At least at the time (about two years ago) the Skytrak would not recognize the WiFi because the of this. This may have changed since then and or you may have decided to do something else. Just something to look into.

Aha...I just talked to the guy who installed our 10 Mpbs Fiber Optic cable from the pole to the house. He says that all I need to do is run Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable from my router to the garage bay underneath the house. He's willing to supply the cable for .35 a foot and then put the ends on for free. This makes me feel much better.

The most important component of the computer for simulation software is the GPU which has been stated. You definitely want at least the GTX 1060 with 6 GB of memory as wbond stated. A somewhat recent i5 processor should be plenty and I would definitely look for an SSD hard drive. I build my own computers, so I haven't really looked at pre-built ones. I'll scan a couple of sites to see if I see anything that meets the requirements and looks like a good deal. It's pretty easy to build your own as well. If you want to go that route, I could give you some pointers and there are other guys on here that I'm sure would help you out as well.

Thanks for the info Kent...! It's what I've been looking for. If my wife knew that I was going to "build" the computer for the SIM she'd probably stope me before I get going.

Seriously, it's a bit scary, but if you think that a novice could do it then I'd be open to comparing cost savings between a pre-built and building one. My gut says that I should go with one already built though.

If you can point me to some reasonably priced PC/Monitors that would fit the bill then it would be greatly appreciated. It seems like there should be some gamer type PC's out there that would be bar bones and work, but that's the novice in me speaking.

It's exciting having someone interested in pointing me in the right direction for a PC that will be adequate Kent.

I think the cheapest route is to get a refurbished computer with some useful parts (processor, mb, OS, memory) and then replace the graphics card, hard drive and maybe the case/PSU. I always prefer to build from scratch as I get exactly what I want. The graphics cards are pretty spendy right now and a lot of them are out of stock.

I picked up an open box Alienware laptop at Bedt Buy for 1200. It has a GTX1070. Very happy with that purchase.

Craigslist even though it can be somewhat sketchy sometimes is also an alternative. Gamers are always building and buying the latest stuff and upgrading all the time. I bought mine from there and just swapped out the graphics card, saved a ton that way. You can usually tell from reading the post and the pictures to determine those who are quite good at building them

Thanks for the suggestions on computers guys! What are these things going to have in them in the future? Jet engines?!

I still cannot convince myself that I could buy a refurb and put it all together with new parts. That's unless most are simply plug-ins. I have tinkered with the guts of PCs in the past with all of the wires, cables, static electricity, etc. See if you can convince me.

I'm also amazed that most Desktops do not come with monitors anymore. What's the deal with that?

I've been pretty quiet. Since my wife committed to letting me build the SIM I have been taking care of some required "Honey Do's".

I'm am holding off on ordering until I am a bit closer to the build. Perhaps SkyTrak will go no sale again in the interim.

I am still looking for input on a desktop PC that will do the trick for my build. I'll be using ST along with TGC software. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. As you can see, others above has chimed in on this subject. I'm just feeling that here may be a good buy out there on the gaming PC that would be adequate.

I'm still not clear on how the putting goes with ST and TGC. Will I need a putting mat or does the ST read your stroke in a short distance? Not having seen a SIM in action I'm just not sure how it all works.

Even though I have some "Honey Do's" I maybe should begin ordering some components to save time on shipping. I wouldn't want to get to the point where I'm ready and there are delays in shipping.

Hope there is a ST sale at Masters time. Or maybe I won't be able to wait that long. Also maybe TGC will go on sale.

Thought I'd sent an update. The wifey has balked a couple more times, but I'm still lobbying. I'm confident in my skills. Just have to play things right. I've gotten some "Honey Do's" done, which helps.

I still haven't ordered anything do to the "Honey Do's" and other projects. I'll have to frame in a half wall to close in the garage bay so that I can heat it when out there playing.

My other delay is that I'm hoping that ST, WGC and other components may go on sale. Hoping someone will post the info if it happens. Maybe for the Masters coming up in April.

I would still appreciate any input and direction on a good PC to run ST/WGC. I'm not confident in building one so if anyone can point me to some web links showing which ones that will do the job then it would be greatly appreciated.

That's it for now. Got the thread "bumped" and hoping for some additional input.

Wow, TGC is on sale. Issues? Sure, hit me on email with your thoughts.

I think that I'd rather pay outright than to pay yearly like with JNPG. It could certainly add up over several years. Any thoughts?

Boy, it was difficult to find a price on the E6 software. Finally found it at around $1,800. Runs a thousand bucks more than TGC at $795.

I'm acronym'ed out for tonight...
