New Skytrak Shed Build - any advice please?

Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum but been wanting to build a simulator set up for a while.

I’d be grateful if anyone could advise me on my best options.




I’m thinking of a skytrak set up. I’m also looking at having a shed built in the space to the side of the garage (this will need planning permission based on height and next to boundary). It’s 13.2ft wide (by 18ft deep).




I’ve been in touch with a shed company who’d build it once I’ve sorted suitable groundwork/foundation. They say they need 10 inches minimum either side to build it so I’d be looking at 11.5 feet (at best) shed width. Probably by 18ft long. I’ve thought of saying I’ll need minimum 10ft inside height throughout to swing. I am 6ft tall.




So, with my intended 18x11.5x10ft build, does this sound like a good size? Ideally I wouldn’t want the skytrak view to be off centred.




Given this, would it be feasible to set up the simulator sideways - so it was 18ft wide and 11.5ft deep? If 11.5ft was deep enough then I could have plenty of side width to mount a screen/seat etc. Or is best to just have it conventionally with 18ft depth and 11.5ft wide?

I would say 11.5ft would be too tight, you will probably loose another 0.5ft or even more with your impact screen being hung away from the wall. My old setup was a tad over 13ft and I never felt comfortable swinging anything more than a 5 iron without fear of hitting something. I would stick with the original plan and just accept that you will be offset.

I feel like 13 ft is about as tight as I’d ever want to be front to back from the screen to the back wall.

Depends on your swing but I would say you will struggle not to offset at least a little. Best bet is to just get a measuring tape out, mark out 5.75 ft away from a wall and have a gentle practice swing. If you have a steep swing path you may be ok but anything else will feel real tight. I would much rather be off set than have the fear of hitting a wall, it will ruin your swing, been there done that, it's not nice.

I am 6’0”. My bay is 12’0” wide. I offset by about 18” and still occasionally hit my side wall netting recoiling after my follow through with driver. It’s just netting though and not an actual wall so no harm. But ypu Will be offsetting for sure. And that’s fine, unless you have lefty friends.

Did you end up building this? I'm curious what your end dimensions are and how it is working. I'm doing research for building my own simulator shed.
