  • New Build

Well, my build is almost complete. Worked with Cory from Par2Pro to source most of the stuff and finished most of the build today. Waiting on projector and electrician to move a light and I will be good to go. Highly recommend Cory. I wound up spending a little more than I originally planned but really glad I did. Here’s the progress so far. Was going to buy a ProPuttSystems green a couple months back but decided to build my own which you can see pics of. Cost around $600 and took a day but had my 12 yr old help. It has been awesome for both of us. Easy project - highly recommended. We have been making 50 putts a day the last month and the difference in both our putting strokes is amazing. Probably could have stopped there, saved a bunch of money and improved my game just as much as I will with the sim LOL! Appreciate the guidance and help of many of you.

Looks nice. What did you end up using for turf for the putting green?

Looks great......I agree with your sentiments above, my putting green turned out to be my favorite and most used feature of my setup....it's so easy to go out and hit a few putts while I'm waiting on the wife to get in the car, or the steaks are grilling, etc. etc.

I messaged Par2Pro over the weekend. Was Cory pretty responsive to you? Trying to get in touch with him for the same purposes. Oh by the way, that is a really sweet build!

I went with Grass-Tex True Turf PL307. Very happy with it. Ordered a bunch of different samples from different manufacturers.

True Turf is a versatile artificial turf product that can be used for numerous applications like sports training, putting greens and more. True Turf can be installed indoors or outdoors on concrete or a compacted aggregate base.

Yes, pretty responsive overall. Sometimes takes a couple days. Seems like they are really busy in the winter. And thanks for the compliment. Got the projector today but haven’t installed it yet but I did use the SkyTrak for the first time hooked up to my computer. It’s pretty sweet.

Thanks and totally agree. My gaming computer is right next to both the green and sim. I created a Google spreadsheet with a column for me and a column for my son. Everyday we enter the number of putts and another cell sums it up YTD. So we putt and then update the spreadsheet. In a month I’ve been amazed at how much consistent my stroke is as well as his. 50 putts per day = 1,500 putts per month = 18k putts per year. The power of incremental improvement!

Still need to figure that out. Right now I just used an extra piece of turf that matches the rest of the turf. It’s actually really nice to hit off. I was originally planning to cut out a piece of turf and drop something in. Still may do that. Haven’t quite decided yet.

ballgame168 Looks great. What are the dimensions of your screen? I also like the curtains on the side. All from Par2Pro?

Yes, all from P2P. The screen is actually 156" wide and 108" high. However, we had to go with 16:10 because the header beam on the left side of the pic got in the way and I would have to reroute some pipes if I increased the width of the screen and I just didn't feel like doing it. We went back and forth for a while about it and I finally got fatigued and just pulled the trigger on the 156". As I understood it, the 16:10 aspect ratio is why the top black border is so wide. The actually viewable screen height is not 108" and we did that so the picture will fill the whole screen and not have black bars. I just got the Panasonic PT-VZ580U projector based on Cory's recommendation. A little more than I originally budgeted but expect I will be happy with it. Trying to mount it tonight so will hopefully see if the whole screen is filled up shortly. Highly recommend the curtains as well. I was planning to go with the cheaper options and save a few hundred $$but glad I upgraded. Heavy and good quality. I actually originally built an EMT frame before working with Cory - he talked me out of it and recommended using 2x4s and angle iron. Really glad I did that.

                        Awesome. Thanks.

Do you have pictures of the build with the 2X4s? I’ve thought about going that route, but I haven’t seen any pictures of it on here.

How far away will that projector be from your screen? We have almost an identical screen size and I’m interested in the 16:10 ratio too but it looks like that Panasonic PT-VZ580U has to be like 20’ away from the screen.

ballgame - are you getting any shadows on the screen from the PJ being so far away?
